Die meisten Shopping Malls dieser Stadt müssen sich der schwindenden Käufernachfrage stellen: die Verlagerung in den Online-Handel stellt das alte Geschäftsmodell infrage. Die Gebäude aber sind da und es stellt sich die Frage nach der künftigen Nutzung. Im Boulevard in Steglitz wird man in den oberen Etagen umbauen: mehr als 200 Apartments werden entstehen fürs Wohnen auf Zeit.

The nineties didn't call to get their design back, but offered to take the eyesore off our hands for a price.
Unlike the sublime inner architecture of the #LloydCenter: a perfect, ready-made community center/maker-space/climate refuge—about to be thrown to the capitalist wolves, while a billion dollar #Portland #Climate Action Fund stands idle—in spite of the obvious need for protected spaces for future weather disasters...
Threaten taking our #blazers = shakedown.

Even a cursory look for ridiculously wasted ground level car parking space (outlined in red) reveals what they don't want to admit: there's plenty of room for all the nifty outdoor stuff **and** a renovated Lloyd Center, too.

Historic preservation aside, maybe it is not a good idea to demolish a public space right as we enter an economic downturn that will make it impossible to construct new buildings anytime in the foreseeable future.

#LloydCenter: Monqui is a concert promotion giant—packing fans into venues like Wonder Ballroom, McMenamins' Edgefield, Grand Lodge, and Mission Theater, among others in #Oregon and #Washington—but its partnership with AEG is interesting because AEG is considered a comparable, if smaller, competitor with Live Nation.
Only next to #LiveNation could AEG appear small in its field, as the company produces concerts and entertainment across the globe.
