For those interested in Llantwit Major history, a book I'd not seen before has just turned up on the Internet Archive, about 5th century Llantwit Major. Nothing I'd not heard locally, but a useful summary and some photos from the late 19th century which may be of interest.

A big turn out on the Ramblers walk today with around 25 completing the circular walk out of Llantwit Major, to Marcross following the coast path back. Transport for Wales have a fleet of new trains, but I haven’t been on one yet - they’re not running out to #LlantwitMajor yet. Let’s see if my luck is in. My constant companion today is, of course, #RealTimeTrains which usually lists the rolling stock. Not this time tho. 6/n

Ticked off another short section of the #WalesCoastalPath today, Not the prettiest start at #Aberthaw #PowerStation, but photographic in it's own way. A giant Rubik Cube and Die was a surprise spot, before the usual impressive coastal views of the #Glamorgan #HeritageCoast kicked in. Finished at #LlantwitMajor #beach

Took a short walk this morning from #NashPoint to #ColHuwPoint (aka ##LlantwitMajor #Beach). It's a great section of the #WalesCoastalPath with a #Lighthouse #WW2 #PillBox(es), the famous #StDonatsCastle and, of course, some great views.

At last, after a long wait, our swifts (Apus apus) are back. Here in the UK, these birds are in critical decline. Ours arrived ten? years ago nesting in a hole in the eaves. The eves got repaired, so we added three nest boxes. Here’s the central box hosting a pair of birds. Their screams are the essence of summer. #Swifts #LlantwitMajor #Cymru #Wales
