Liz and the Blue Bird doesn't really add very much to Mizore's and Nozomi's story from Sound! Euphonium 2. I think the movie is fine to have on in the background, but it's not all that interesting to watch.

I think Liz and the Blue Bird would have been a better movie if it didn't include Liz or the Blue Bird. The scenes featuring those characters didn't add anything - they were just a forced parallel with Mizore and Nozomi.

While you can watch Liz and the Blue Bird as a standalone movie, it's actually a spin-off of Sound! Euphonium 2, and you're going to be missing a lot of context if you haven't watched that season of the parent series.
