  1. #DEI is alive & well at the #VA. :dogelaugh: I was just informed that a #healthcare #contractor had canceled my referral because I told them that their wait music is #triggering to people who have #hyperacusis

I mean the VA literally just told me that is the reason that was given— I complained about their hold music. It could have been worse, but something so easy to fix⸮

DEI and Die might have something in common, with this #government

  2. @gamesense your website is totally NOT #accessible to my #ScreenReader ( #Apple). Otherwise I’d have loved to have seen what you have to say- maybe even repost it too.

Unfortunately people #LivingWithDisabilities like mine are probably just an afterthought

    Oh, well. Bye! :gnomeHey:

  3. Why is the #USGovernment’s #AmericansWithDisabilitiesAct website #NotAccessible to my #ScreenReader? (No surprise- it was all over the news last year that the #DOJ had been dodging its own #online #accessibility #audit)

I think it’s because people who are #LivingWithDisabilities are #SecondClassCitizens in this country

  5. I ❤️ exploring the many #links people share here on #Mastodon. I 🥰 clicking through & discovering the rich selection of content out there.

The #PartyPooper is the link that comes along without #accessibility.

#Websites that are #NotAccessible to a #ScreenReader either appear blank or like an incomplete series of empty cells and spaces.

I’m not sharing that! What I can’t see? What you aren’t willing to share with people #LivingWithDisabilities, like me?

You want me to share but you won’t? 🚫

  6. @bug_gwen this really grabbed me! I am a super geek, this caught my attention

Then I went to the website 😒

Unfortunately the #AmericanMuseumOfNaturalHistory website won’t allow use of my #accessibility #reader.

You know, maybe because people #LivingWithDisabilities (like me) probably don’t matter

    But keep ’em coming ✌🏼🙂👍🏼

  7. @dtauvdiodr do you use #ANC headphones? A good pair can make for an excellent #AssistiveDevice (AD). Plus, as an AD, they are protected by the #ADA (which refers to 28CFR § 36.303: Auxiliary Aids and Services - check the link), so you can feel safe knowing that you can use them wherever/whenever YOU feel like you need to.

    Good luck 👍🏼

  12. @feditips @VAC you sound a bit like…

    you could’ve paid closer attention.

Would you like me to clarify about #triggering?

Was I not clear about #toxicity?

Could I have made clearer that #Facebook itself could be a trigger?

Or did you need help with the part that I’m a #veteran who’s #LivingWithDisabilities?

I’m sure I made clear that I’m not well versed in the #fediverse, so that couldn’t be it
