Professional Road Cycling is a fascinating.
Today, at stage 16 of the #giroditalia #giroditalia2024 riders + organizers saw themselves faced with adverse weather conditions. Most riders said it is too dangerous to start from #Livigno.
The organizers advised themselves and came up with the conclusion to start the race in Livigno anyway, have a “Show-Start” to create some images, get the riders soaking wet, to then jump into the cars and drive to #Prad, where the real start will happen. What?!

My mate who is doing the Transcontinental 2023 is currently at the foot of the #Stelvio Pass, from the Bormio side. He reached #Control Point 1 (CP1), near #Livigno, last night with just over an hour to spare. He's currently done @ 1200km having ridden from #Belgium, through Eastern #France, up the #Grimsel Pass in #Switzerland and now heading through Northern #Italy then onto #Slovenia. The leaders are already in southern #Bosnia! At least, after the Stelvio, Phil will have an "easier" couple of days following rivers and valleys into Slovenia.
