When Did We Make Love So Complicated?
A short video on social media made me stop and ask a much bigger question: When did we become so afraid to let people know they matter? Living with a lifelong health condition, spending years in hospitals, and losing people I loved far too young has taught me that tomorrow isn't guaranteed. It has also taught me that kindness, appreciation and genuine connection are never things we regret. At hospital. My Uncle was very happy to get a big serving of my homemade wor wonton soup. Talking to him about my idea to create a Saigon War Baby Survivor/AntiWar hat & shirt to wear when in public to raise more community awareness about war survivor Asian diaspora, who are now living on Vancouver Island/BC/Canada. To help initiate random conversations in/around the community that I live in, to help more non-immigrant/non-refugees here, to understand why we have a lot of Asian diaspora in Canada. Our lived South East Asian war survivor lived experiences can help us educate more people, willing to learn from survivors & who support our commitments to #AntiWar.
