The ENG translation of the article [Cicla Por Segundo / Cycles Per Second: livecoderA Praxis And Reflections] I wrote for Sonic Ideas #28 (a publication of the Mexican Centre for Music and Sonic Arts / CMMAS) is now ready! This article is a review (from a gender perspective) of a series of talks I producted + hosted for CMM (Multimedia Center) centered on live coding since its first practices in Mexico to the rhizomatic connections to the rest of Latin America.

>>A LivecoderA is a woman* who arrived to code to use it as a weapon, a song, a dress. Looking to society, she decided to create a different possible future for it through its most potent element: culture.
I care about eating, doing art, fucking, sleeping and coding.
A LivecoderA, with some or a very few privileges, made a life route through patriarchal hostility. This LivecoderA is fully aware. Each space gained is an opportunity to subvert logic, to weave ties, to implant love.
A LivecoderA is a code worker (which is never neutral) who has to fight for her rigths on several spaces. Daily she faces different types of gender violence (symbolic, psychological, economical, physical, sexual), but she debates them in order to mend it collectively.<< -
Livecodera 8M was yesterday and is now available via the Eulerroom Channel on YouTube:

I've been listening to it today and there is an amazing wealth of live coding here with a great range of styles, aesthetics and innovation. I loved it all, but some of my favorites are:
- Shelly Knotts' segment with the dense layering of noise, glitch and distortions
- @linalab and Turbulente made an incredible sound & visual collage starting with words and voice quotations and building up layers and visuals with much intensity
- @alice_ahora & Maia Francisco give a beautiful development starting from simple tones and oscillators
- @linalab & Julia build a terrific session of intense driving rhythms
- Pulu delivers a fascinating experimental exploration of risset rhythms, broken beats and unusual sounds creating a wonderfully rich thick texture+ a global group jam and much more!
Congrats #Livecodera well done!!!
