"Bennie and the Jets" (also titled "Benny & the Jets") is a song written by British musician #EltonJohn and lyricist #BernieTaupin, and performed by John. The song first appeared on the #GoodbyeYellowBrickRoad album in 1973. "Bennie and the Jets" has been one of John's most popular songs and was performed during his appearance at #LiveAid. The track was a massive hit in the United States and Canada, released in 1974 as an A-side using the spelling "Bennie".

40 years ago this week, "Dancing In The Street" by #DavidBowie & #MickJagger entered the #Top10 at 9. It peaked at 7 on 12 Oct 1985. The song and video were created as a fund-raiser for #LiveAid, and shown twice during the concert. It's been included on several lists of the worst music videos, but I've seen many worse videos. "Geldof was bemoaning how rather than upping charity as the world flounders under several generational #catastrophes, the response from the U.S. and others has been to 'cut it off.'
" 'These ketamine-crazed narcissists swing their f**king hedge trimmers around their heads and say, this weekend, we’re feeding #USAID to the wood chipper,' he added of the end of the U.S. Agency for International Development.
