I discovered little ringed plovers a few days ago on a small nearby island. I never before knew these birds exist and nest here. Today I went back with a camera, this is the best picture of many.

Not only are they relatively easy to photograph (agile but not too shy) but a lot of fun to watch as they run around scavenging in the mud and between pebbles.

Dieser Flussregenpfeifer hat mit seinem Partnervogel weit weg von einem Fluss und trotz Fuchs, Waschbär und Krähen auf einer Baustelle drei Küken großgezogen. Die Kleinen sind jetzt flügge. Schade, dass die Baustelle irgendwann keine mehr ist und dass dann kein Lebensraum mehr für den Vogel besteht.

Ein #Flussregenpfeifer mit #Küken. Vom Weg aus kommt man nicht näher an den #Flausch und ich finde es gut, dass die Kleinen lernen, Abstand von Menschen zu halten.

Der #Flussregenpfeifer leuchtet weiß von vorn. Von oben hat er genau die Farbe des Schlamms, ist also bestens gegen Angriffe aus der Luft getarnt.
