Here's last year's #FolktaleWeek images, as well as this year's first entry for the new one.

Last year's words were Lost, Ink, Sea, Sleep, Underground, Illusion, and Found.

I incorporated them into an adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood I'm still developing in my head. Lots of great story twists and turns, and it was really useful.

This year, for #FolktaleWeek2024, I'm using the new prompt words to create background imagery to place underneath text. I'm happy with how they're turning out.

I probably won't be able to complete all seven new words by the end of the week, but since it's primarily an Instagram challenge to drive traffic to specific host accounts (and I left Instagram a long time ago) I'm not worried about deadlines. I took my own sweet time last year, and will do so this year, too.

So here's a phone wallpaper version of "Mist," originally for a page of text.

Got some work done on the value study of this image during my livestream this afternoon. I think I've explored it enough to start putting in some color. We'll see how it goes. I think it'll be a WIP for a while yet... hehe...

This is an exploration of the "dark wolf" character of my version of Little Red. The idea is still a bit unformed and amorphous, but I'm getting closer.

Test Printing!!! Woohoo! My husband's years in small-press publications, layout, and graphic design have really come through for the calendar! I think it looks so pro!! I can't wait to get this into my shop!!

I think I got the cover image for my calendar done. The title font is a substitute until I find something better, but the image itself underneath it is done. Whew!

This digital version is adjusted to look good on screens, and the print version is a little less intensely dark and light, but I'm happy with both!

And they're all done. All twelve months. Now I have to do an absolutely stellar cover, format the inside info page, do test printing to get the image looking right, and assemble a whole bunch of them... Oy!

But I'm SO HAPPY just to see all of these together. I was worried I wouldn't get it done before school started again. But the bulk of it is ready. Just a few more steps to go.
