My own recommendations for new users:

OS : Buy a laptop and phone with #LinuxPreinstalled so you can to get full support.
Browser : #BrowserSeparation - use a few trustworthy browsers, each for a different activity type.
Mail client : #DeltaChat easiest encrypted mail setup in the world, or Thunderbird.
Calendar client : OS default.
Mail Service : #Chatmail for encrypted-only mail contacts, #Thundermail / #TBpro, #PurelyMail,
Social : Mastodon & Fediverse in general, #Nostr.
Office package : LibreOffice.
Video conference : #JitsiMeet, #NextcloudTalk, or #SignalApp for close contacts.

@purism Btw, you should post the announcement on your socials or at least share this post. Please post on #Odysee + #Peertube (if you have), not only YT. I think Odysee has a Linux desktop app now to sync your YT channel so you don't have to reupload.

Oggi lunedì dell'Angelo fare gite fuori porta significa fare ore di coda, trovare ressa eccetera. Quindi ce ne staremo a casina casuccia. Ma giusto per non stare rintanati in casa andremo a farci un giro al centro commerciale di Limbiate (per ora ha ancora nome "Carrefour" ma è stato comprato dalla GS). @samuelsantaella @itsfoss I agree - that is the only real reason. #YotLD is not about anything technical, nor about market share! The true practical definition of #YotLD is when people can simply walk in to physical stores. and buy affordable laptops with #LinuxPreinstalled.

Remember, most people don't install Windows or macOS on their computers. In fact, they have no concept of an operating system - it's just a computer. They are only concerned with using the apps!

@itsfoss I'm not sure about other countries but #Dell AU/NZ customer support is apparently happy with installing Linux on any laptop before shipping it if you arrange in advance, according to what they told me.

@zetabeta that's what I did when I bought a #LinuxFriendly #Dell #laptop that came with #LinuxPreinstalled in the USA but was unavailable here in #Italy. That was 15 years ago. Today I get only hardware if and only if they directly and explicitly support Linux. I do not accept anymore to be treated like a 3rd class citizen @cx7
