Samedi, lors d'une install-party, j'ai installé ZorinOS sur un MacBook Pro delaissé...Résultat au-delà des attentes: installation sans histoire (mais longue parce que la distro pesait presque 8 gigas), et, une fois installé, un Linux bien fourni en logiciels, rapide, sur un ordi de haute qualité...le plus dur était de trouver la touche qui donne accès au choix du support de boot!

Linux auf dem Mac: WLAN nach Upgrade futsch
WLAN auf MacBooks, Mac Minis und iMac unter Ubuntu, Debian oder Mint ist immer so eine Sache. Schon die erste Einrichtung kann einen zur Verzweiflung bringen. Blöd, wenn die Sache erst funktioniert und dann nach einem Upgrade des Kernels von 6.14 auf 6.17 dann nicht mehr funktioniert.

@gischpelino My understanding is that the boot flag is for BIOS-based systems, and I think this hardware uses EFI. The original Mac hdd has a 200M EFI partition. If that's required, I'd like to set it up on the new ssd, but that will require some creative repartitioning. 💀

My Saturday project was installing #linuxmint on an old Intel MacBook Air from 2017.
Installed without any problems. All devices are recognized.
The best part after installing linux is always that it feels like a new machine.

Après 12 ans de bons et loyaux services, il tourne toujours aussi bien, mais je ne pouvais plus disposer de certaines applications, notamment ma chouchou #anytype

Il y a 20 ans, on rêvait tous de #Hackintosh. Aujourd'hui c'est le contraire, je tente de redonner un second souffle à mon Mac en y installant Linux.

It looks (and looked) bad, but staring at it now, I see the problem is simple: the installer was writing to the wrong USB. Instead of the target 1TB SSD, it went to the 16MB USB key 'sdb' from which 'Try' Ununtu (a full-blast version of Linux) and the installer had launched and were being hosted—back to its own temporary install, in other words.
