Seems I got delivered a Thule file manager update - spruced up display and Right Click -> Rename is now there.
But Thule hangs when I ask it to display contents on a 256GB SD card. Whereas Xfe file manager performs as expected.
Pretty sure that it was Thule that was putting very incorrect date stamps on files before I reinstalled it about 8 months ago.

Thinking of trying Linux?
Just found that the Thunar file manager does not do Right click -> Rename file.
Words fail me.
Year of the Linux Desktop - hahahahaha.
This is not to say that Microsoft Windows won't mess your life up badly.
