Aaron is on Mastodon, so if you have questions, ask him directly better. He's a great and very helpful man. #Accessibility #Linux #LinuxDesktop #LinuxFail -
NTP in practice. Mostly it works. Time to time it's like 8 hours off. Internet connection is working.
I already debugged unreliable NTP once and replaced the unreliable "ntp" NTP daemon with much more reliable "chrony" NTP daemon. But still unreliable.
"Old people don't like computers" - because computers are unreliable! Why would I use something that's unreliable? A tuning fork ground out of quartz, invented by Seiko, connected to a battery, semiconductor amplifier, 15-bit counter, few logic gates, stepper motor, cogwheels, hands and a clock face is much more reliable!

I decided to shrink a partition on my home server today, so I could move the home directory. New home directory mounted but I borked my other partition! Spent the whole day getting everything working again.
I did take the opportunity to do fresh install of Debian. I also realised my backup strategy was not as robust as I had hoped. One to fix tomorrow.

Just pulled my hair out for 30 minutes over why my Synology wasn't connecting to my Debian machine via rsync. Only to realize that I hadn't installed rsync on my Debian machine.

@nrk9819 imagine not listing #Debian but listing those.. #linuxfail

As I've talked about on Grumpy Old Bens, my Dell XPS15 laptop hasn't made me happy from day 1.
Latency for audio can be an issue.
Windows updates have been an issue.
Researched Linux distros. Found folks that swore Xubuntu was the way to go, worked out of the box with the 3rd Party Drivers enabled they said.
So, I tried.
Failed upon install.
Immediately went back to Win10.
Another year it won't be the "Year Of Linux" because of this kind of hassle.
