  14. #TIL: #xargs has an option -a to read items from a file instead of from standard input. This is perfect if you need to run xargs without a surrounding shell to provide the commonly used pipe mechanism, e.g. calling it just via exec() or similar.

My case today was with Perl's Test::Command::Simple::run_ok() in pxzgrep's TAP based test suite.

  19. The cool thing about #linux is that I can try out different things that I would never normally try. Like posting this #mastodon post from the #terminal ! What are some of your favorite #linuxcli or #tui applications?

  20. So yesterday I learned that the openSSL package makes its library's accessible from the command line in Linux.

So you can do fun things like hash files with newer algorithms like sha3-512
    'openssl dgst -sha3-512 file.txt'
    Or generate large prime numbers.
    'openssl prime -generate -bits 4086'

    #openssl #cryptography #linuxcli
