  1. 🚀 Oh joy, another app to protect the tinfoil-hat-wearing Linux crowd from the dreaded automatic updates, the horror! 😂 Because, clearly, nothing screams security like trusting a random third-party app instead of "foreign-controlled" software. 🙄 Linux users, rejoice in your newfound paranoia! 🛡️

  6. I am locked out of my Telegram account…

Some days ago someone shared that a zero-day vulnerability was discovered in the Telegram clients, so I uninstalled them from all my devices.

Now I am trying to log in again but:

    • on Linux, it tells me to login from my phone first
    • with Forkgram on Android I get a message saying that I must use an official client
    • with the official Android client I confirm my email address by entering a verification code, but then I am asked to pay .80€ to receive an SMS! I absolutely refuse to do that also because I definitely do not want Telegram to have my payment information!

I actually have a passkey stored in my password manager, but it’s not working apparently…

How do I get in? Please, #help me! I hate Telegram and I want to get off it but I need to access some chats now.

  7. More #LinuxApp goodies: local on-device audio live captions! I usually mute by default, and now I'll have even fewer reasons to unmute. 🔇 #a11y

  8. It’s 2025, and this is the first time I’ve had a reliable method for sending files across the local network between my phone, tablet, and computers. #AndroidQuickShare #pseudoStandard #LinuxApp
It is crazy it has taken the industry so long to finally implement something for sharing files between local devices. We just need Apple to add support too, and well have a universal system for local device–device file sharing!

  14. Is there a Linux email client which handles spam as well as webmail systems? Automatically detect spam and put it in a special folder without going trough the inbox?

In @thunderbird you have to manually mark messages as spam, and then nothing happens, unless you've turned on a setting for them to be moved (why is this turned off by default!?). And still new spam needs to be marked manually

I need to protect my mom from getting phished and tricked, so need to switch client
