🚀 Oh joy, another app to protect the tinfoil-hat-wearing Linux crowd from the dreaded automatic updates, the horror! 😂 Because, clearly, nothing screams security like trusting a random third-party app instead of "foreign-controlled" software. 🙄 Linux users, rejoice in your newfound paranoia! 🛡️

I am locked out of my Telegram account…
Some days ago someone shared that a zero-day vulnerability was discovered in the Telegram clients, so I uninstalled them from all my devices.
Now I am trying to log in again but:
- on Linux, it tells me to login from my phone first
- with Forkgram on Android I get a message saying that I must use an official client
- with the official Android client I confirm my email address by entering a verification code, but then I am asked to pay .80€ to receive an SMS! I absolutely refuse to do that also because I definitely do not want Telegram to have my payment information!
I actually have a passkey stored in my password manager, but it’s not working apparently…
How do I get in? Please, #help me! I hate Telegram and I want to get off it but I need to access some chats now.

CW: I Just Made a Temporary Todo App For Linux - Burner Todo
I just developed a todo app in Qt, called Burner Todo, which lets you create temporary todos, which can be wiped out with a press of a button (Kaboom!), and also when you close the program (default setting, which can be changed). It's like a burner phone, but in a todo app form (hence the name) lol
Other features include editing and deleting a todo, which you would probably expect from a todo app. There are also some settings to toggle delete, kaboom and quit confirmation, and whether to wipe out todos on quit or not (todos are saved to a local database regardless, and aren't wiped out if the program isn't closed properly, e.g. if the system crashes, so the todos aren't lost).
The program is available for Linux as a raw binary, AppImage and Flatpak, and all of these can also be built manually, using the instructions in the repo's README.
The code is written in Python, but compiled into C, to have a better performance, smaller size.

If you're curious about some behind the scenes stuff (why I developed this app, my tech stack choice), check out the Odysee post (unfortunately it's too long to post it here): https://odysee.com/@fossery-tech:4/burner-todo:c

Yep, I agree it's awful they didn't focus on the #LinuxApp instead, although they started doing something: https://proton.me/blog/drive-roadmap-summer-2025#:~:text=and%20will%20support%20our%20upcoming%20Linux%20Drive%20app

It’s 2025, and this is the first time I’ve had a reliable method for sending files across the local network between my phone, tablet, and computers. #AndroidQuickShare #pseudoStandard #LinuxApp
It is crazy it has taken the industry so long to finally implement something for sharing files between local devices. We just need Apple to add support too, and well have a universal system for local device–device file sharing!

Is there a Linux email client which handles spam as well as webmail systems? Automatically detect spam and put it in a special folder without going trough the inbox?
In @thunderbird you have to manually mark messages as spam, and then nothing happens, unless you've turned on a setting for them to be moved (why is this turned off by default!?). And still new spam needs to be marked manually
I need to protect my mom from getting phished and tricked, so need to switch client
