💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🧵🪡 The nearly 70 m (230 ft) #BayeuxTapestry is an embroidered #linen cloth ending abruptly with the death of King Harold at the Battle of #Hastings, leaving scholars to wonder if a final coronation panel was lost.

Ahead of its #London debut, organizers launched a #competition asking #children to stitch their own hopeful ending. Winning classes earn a trip to see the #artifact and visit the #battlefield.

Si j'ai bien compris l'ouvrier conduisant l'arracheuse dans un champ voisin et qui m'a invité à monter à bord de la cabine un peu plus tard, le lin de ce champ-ci a été arraché il y a trois jours.

J'aime beaucoup le rendu monochrome en noir et blanc des andains de lin (racines, tiges, branches avec les fruits) bien alignés sur le champ. Cette machine, venue de Normandie, peut servir aussi bien à arracher (et non couper pour conserver un maximum de longueur aux fibres) du lin que du chanvre.

Hier matin, en route vers une rencontre de la fratrie sur la côte léonarde, au Dossen [ouaiiiis 😊] au frais [ouaiiiis 😊] je suis passé par Commana, pour revoir les champs de lin. Si dans la plupart, le lin avait déjà été arraché, le travail était en cours dans celui-ci, et je me suis arrêté pour photographier de plus près… Coup de bol, l'ouvrier m'a gentiment proposé d'embarquer… J'ai évidemment accepté.
