Twisty seaside Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis), a PNW native, with krummholz effect. These spruce can grow over 300 ft (~100m) tall in sheltered areas! And live over 600 years!

Monty enjoys the beach sand, the rocks, the flotsam and jetsam, and he let the waves touch his feet. He tasted the ocean and decided it wasn't very good water. He returned to running and digging in the sand.

I decided last week that I needed a little break and scheduled today and tomorrow as vacation days from work. How often do vacation days turn out to be this gorgeous in Oregon?!? Especially when planned more than a week in advance. I drove up to the Roads End area of Lincoln City and walked up the beach to the edge of Cascade Head. Look at those huge washed up logs. I’d have loved to see the waves that brought those in. #oregoncoast #lincolncityoregon

At the #InnAtSpanisHead for breakfast, so new pictures of #HotelCat Mamma Kitty!
This is "Mama Kitty," a feral cat who has ruled over #TheInnAtSpanishHead on the central #OregonCoast for around 21 years! She (and two kittens) were trapped, fixed and released in the parking lot to discourage rats. It took her years to accept pets and come inside at night, but you can see she's mellowed! What a wonderful old girl she is. Pictures taken last night at the front desk of the Inn.
