  1. Given the hunt for #LilyTheCat I want to go cover strategies for searching for a lost *outdoor* cat.

    Eight possible things that happened:

    1. Trapped - check garages, sheds, under decks, etc.
    2. "Rescued" - force adopted
    3. Stolen - rare except purebreds
    4. Injured and hiding or sick and hiding
    5. Killed
    6. Displaced (by dog, raccoon, coyote, etc.)
    7. Removed (intentional)
    8. Transported (accidental) - your cat wound up in a car (or piece of furniture) that moved.

  2. A second cat in our extended neighborhood was seen being killed by a coyote on a ring camera. First was 2 weeks after Lily disappeared (3 blocks from us), second is a couple miles last night. Both were smaller cats (Lily is not), both at 2 am, but #LilyTheCat disappeared at 2 pm, not am.

As the saying goes, “Owners giving up kills more cats than coyotes.”

  3. We have another hopeful lead for #LilyTheCat location, on a block we hadn’t gotten to before (actually a place that shares fence with us as one of our 6 adjacent neighbors).

Got to wait for more people to answer, sigh.

  4. Thought some people might like seeing the data perspective of #LilyTheCat's whereabouts.

I plotted 78 days into a KML file and imported the points into Google Earth.

Kim Freeman (lostcatfinder.com) says to concentrate one's search within 3 houses for an indoor cat, and 5 for an outdoor cat. True for Lily.

Even for a mostly outdoor cat like Lily (who prefers to sleep outside except when it's wet), that turns out to be true.
