  7. A quotation from Robert Louis Stevenson

To know what you like is the beginning of wisdom and of old age. Youth is wholly experimental. The essence and charm of that unquiet and delightful epoch is ignorance of self as well as ignorance of life. These two unknowns the young man brings together again and again, now in the airiest touch, now with a bitter hug; now with exquisite pleasure, now with cutting pain; but never with indifference, to which he is a total stranger, and never with that near kinsman of indifference, contentment.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) Scottish essayist, novelist, poet
Essay (1888-09), “A Letter to a Young Gentleman who Proposes to Embrace the Career of Art,” Scribner’s Magazine, Vol. 4, No. 3

  11. Sharing

I always share a lot. About my (daily) life, pictures, texts, videos at times... I know that people can use these things against me. But I also know that, growing up before the internet became this big thing, people knew how to use things against others then as well. I've been stalked, I've been beaten up on my way home, I've been bullied, things have been stolen from me... There was no internet, at least as we know it now. There were just people with bad intentions. And I guess that, however much, or little, you share, if they're out to get you... They will find a way, one way or another. Living off the grid is kinda hard to do these days, when money goes through the bank, when you need a registered place you call home, when you need to pay taxes, get groceries, use the internet for many occasions... I don't think you can really hide that easily these days. And that made me wonder... […]
