This week's #ThursdayFiveList theme is #SciFiTunes. This time I ended up choosing a selection of Finnish-language songs:
Fredi: Muukalainen (1973) ("Starman" in Finnish)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGQAy6swhY0Veltto Virtanen: Ufo (1978) (an off-the wall Finnish-language version of "It Came Out of the Sky")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-og75M73-0Tuomari Nurmio: Punainen planeetta (1983) ("Red Planet")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwZuUgxhVr4Leevi & the Leavings: Nainen toiselta planeetalta (1986) ("Woman From Another Planet")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOp93rQjQjsLiisa Akimof: Helsinki (1990) (in the lyrics the city of Helsinki is drowning into the sea, but there's bureaucracy that needs to be taken care of)

Ylen ykkösen iltapäivässä on viime aikoina soinut jopa Steely Dan. Ja tänään, niin tänään, muistojen varaston räjäytti tämä biisi joka saatta olla vuodelta 1987...

This week's #JukeboxFridayNight theme is #SongsToMakeUsSmile. Well, this music video always makes me smile:
Tavaramarkkinat: Kesytöntä kesää (1983)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlrgKlG3zKkIf you're wondering, "untamed summer" would be a fairly close translation of the song title.

Today's #TuneTuesday theme is songs with cities or towns in the title or lyrics. The official hash tag is #LondonCalling but my entry contains songs that refer to another city, #Helsinki.
Helsinki and Stockholm are connected by a popular ferry line, which is nicely reflected in this song, co-written and sung by one of my favorite artists, Doug Sahm:
Sir Douglas Quintet: Meet Me In Stockholm (1984)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBfz5f7_xXkTwo wonderful Finnish-language recordings that I really liked when they came out some 35 years ago, both with memorable lyrics:
Leevi & the Leavings: Jos Helsinki on kaunis (1989)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUWiBHb1i4sLiisa Akimof: Helsinki (1990)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPW4WJHGNM0Unfortunately the all-time ultimate Helsinki song doesn't mention the name of the city, but here it is anyway - originally written by Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent as "Beautiful In the Rain", but with superb - and completely different - Finnish-language lyrics by Juha "Junnu" Vainio:
Fredi: Kolmatta Linjaa takaisin (1968)
