Musical Interlude: This whimsical piece has been my earworm lately, and you know how it is with earworms. I hear this and imagine it being used in a children's ballet or similar.

Musical Interlude: Here's an old favorite; I heard this played last night by the Vienna Philharmonic, and here's a video of them doing it in 2012. It's a fun light piece that shows real inventiveness and humor.

Musical Interlude: Now here's something fun. I love this piece, by Charles Williams, a noted British composer of light music, and it was used as the theme to an exciting radio serial. This is a great piece to get your blood moving and make you want some adventure.

Musical Interlude: OK, now for something fun. Carl Stalling did music for countless cartoons, most famous for his work with Warner Brothers, but also Disney and other studios. He did a new score almost weekly for 22 years!
Stalling was a master of the "musical pun," inserting bits of popular or classical music into his scores to accentuate the humor, but his original work was also vital. In just a few bars he could set tone and atmosphere like few composers can.
I've long felt that light composers don't get enough credit, and Stalling definitely doesn't! Listen to his work and realize how much of his music has permeated our culture...

IN THE ELEVATOR. NOT his 1931 version. This is a slick 1950s interpretation – insane #saxophone vibrato here, and I don't necessarily mean that in a good way. Or maybe I do??
