While planning my NAS build, I had a sobering realization. My "Bus Factor" at home is exactly 1.
I'm going to spend so much time securing my data against drive failures and hackers but what about my family? If something happens to me, my homelab becomes a digital tomb that no one has the keys to.
I dug up this repo I bookmarked a while ago: eol-dr (End of Life / Disaster Recovery). It’s basically a framework for documenting your digital life for your loved ones.
GitHub: https://github.com/potatoqualitee/eol-dr
Configuring a RAID array is easy. Writing a "How to access our photos when I'm gone" guide is the hard part. Probably, the hardest. But it's arguably the most important backup you'll ever make.
Hope it'll be useful for somebody. Just make a star and take a look later when you feel it's a time.#SelfHosted #Homelab #DigitalLegacy #OpSec #SysAdmin #Privacy #LifeTips #BusFactor #Backup #Nas #Death #Thoughts #Blog

For anyone who wants to break free of the annoying shackles of the #audible app: #Libation syncs with your account and automatically strips off the DRM. In my case it saves it straight into the content folder of #audiobookshelf (running on a NAS), which serves and streams the freed audiobooks to the entire family, each with their own account and saved progress. And while you're at it, maybe quit Audible for libro.fm - takes the Amazon out of Audiobooks. Feels really good! #audiobooks #lifetips

SUNDAY.
Don't be impulsive.
Indeed, following your instincts and intuition is sometimes pretty good. But still, it is much better to calmly assess the situation, calculate all the possible consequences, and only then make a decision. -

Don't chase pleasure with the obsession of a hungry wolf.
Pleasant things are good when they appear in our lives unobtrusively and naturally. If you are always in search, then you lose the ability to enjoy the happy moments of life.
In our times, most pleasures are small, short-lived, and increasingly out of reach. This alone should convince you that chasing them makes no sense. -

Learn to accept life as it is.
If you worry too much about the distant future, it will only sow unrest and anxiety in your soul. You will be under constant stress. In order to maintain peace of mind, you should learn to accept life as it is. Every day is what it is.
Thus, you can easily and painlessly resist all life's adversities.

I *thought* was pretty good at time management--using pomodoros and blocking distracting sites on my desktop browser.
Then I got an app time tracker for my tablet.
