  8. In #ResearchPolicy the authors explore how different forms of mobility – academic, institutional, geographic, and disciplinary – shape scientific recognition among biology professors in 🇨🇭:

    :doi: doi.org/10.1016/j.respol.2025.

It’s remarkably simple: in Swiss science, the highest recognition often goes to foreigners.

Just like in Ukrainian universities – where the government spares no expense to recruit promising Brazilians!

    Oh, wait… no, that’s football.

  10. Partnered mothers who were mainly unpaid caregivers or who did other unpaid activities had lower cognitive scores in later life than full-time working mothers. Partnered mothers who mainly worked part-time had the best cognitive function in later life, slightly higher than mothers who worked full-time.

  11. Worsening health does not significantly predict suicide ideation until young adults approach the transition into midlife, possibly due to the increasing severity of health problems, reduced social network engagement, and disruption of social responsibilities later in early adulthood.

  12. I've updated my SADI repository of #Stata code for life-course sequence analysis to cope with Stata 18.

No major changes, but if you are using Stata 18 it is worth updating:

    . net from teaching.sociology.ul.ie/sadi
    . net install sadi
    . net get sadi

    Then run distances.do to test.

  15. #introduction

Hi everyone! I'm an Associate #Professor of #Sociology at the University of Alabama Birmingham. My research interests include #health, social #inequality, and the #lifecourse. I'm currently working on projects related to #wealth and #mortality risk, #debt and midlife health, and the shifting determinants of #SES and health across historical contexts.

  16. OK trying a quick #introduction - I'm a Prof of #sociology at University of Surrey - interests in #fatherhood #masculinities #youth #digitalmedia #lifecourse - currently examining men's journeys of #hair-loss - used to research & write about #goths amongst other things.

  17. Changing domains so a new #Introduction:

I'm a quantitative #Sociologist working at Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (#NIDI) and #TilburgUniversity. More: konradturek.com

    Interested in changing and #Ageing #LabourMarkets, #LifeCourse #Inequalities, #Work, #Retirement and #Organisations. Also in #OpenScience knowledge infrastructure, e.g., CPF (#Comparative #PanelData) cpfdata.com – 1st open-source survey harmonization initiative in #Sociology

  18. Excited to share a forthcoming chapter from Volume 14 of the Research in #SocialScience and Disability #RSSD series. Coauthored with Scott Landes, this chapter reconsiders the five principles of life course theory while centering disability as an axis of inequality. We hope that this work will help to facilitate a dialogue among #LifeCourse and #Disability scholars who have typically viewed disability through different lenses.

  22. Hi #Fediscience folks!

Let me do a new #introduction then

I am an #Irish scientist working in the field of social #epidemiology and #PublicHealth based in SW #France

My main interest is in #HealthInequalities to understand how they're formed over the #lifecourse through #intersectional #social to #biological processes

I have a background in #anthropology & enjoy dipping into many disciplines
