Keine Ahnung zu #Tolino - ich kaufe ebooks als Dateien, die ich mit #Librera auf dem Fon lese. Kobo zeigt an, ob DRM-frei oder nicht (ist bei mir Teil der Kaufentscheidung für das Buch). Dasselbe englische Ebook war auf Kobo DRM-frei und auf Thalia mit Adobe begossen. Die Auswahl von Nicht-DRM-behafteten eBooks auf Kobo war deutlich besser als auf Thalia (warum auch immer). Aber das mag sehr vom Lesegeschmack abhängen. 🙂 -

Ich bin kein Freund von Hörbüchern, weil meist gekürzt, lasse mir aber gerne auf längeren Autofahrten ein ebook vorlesen. Das klappt auch recht ordentlich, aber das Perfekte ist bekanntlich der Feind des ganz guten. Ich habe das Problem, dass Librera mit Google TTS einfach mittendrin mal steckenbleibt und auch die Stimme,...vielleicht gibt ja was besseres?
Was nutzt, bzw. könnt ihr auf einem Android Smartphone empfehlen? -

@thelinuxcast just been listening to ep 215 "The Everything for Everybody Episode" and got to you talking about #android #EBookReaders. I use #ReadEra, and i think its very good. Its proprietary, but it has no ads*, and is pretty customisable. (And it doesn't have internet permissions.)
*They sometimes do fullscreen popups for the paid version, but they're not obnoxious
I've also used #Librera, which is FOSS, with extreme customisation, but I'm more used to ReadEra.

Late to the party, I know. Read less than 2024, but it's not that bad. After stumbling on the first season of the Netflix series #DepartmentQ I've decided to read the books. That's most of what I've read this year. Still missing the tenth and last book of the series.
Interestingly enough, of these 15 books only one I physically own. The other 14 are #epub read on my phone, which I find quite convenient, thanks also to the #librera app from #FDroid.

Ogólnie czytam książki na czytniku od #Onyx, ale czasem po prostu nie mam go pod ręką, a mam 5 minut na przeczytanie paru stron. Wtedy wykorzystuję coś co mam zawsze przy sobie - telefon. Przez ostatnich kilka dni szukałem aplikacji idealnej do tego zastosowania i zdaje się, że finalny werdykt to #Librera. Oczywiście mówimy o rozwiązaniu #OpenSource.

Some of this weekend will be spent re-reading the #Psion SIBO C SDK's Object Oriented Programming Guide.
Not because I want to refresh my technical knowledge, but because I threw #CTRAN together with a mish-mash of identifier names. And Present Me is slightly cursing Past Me. So yeah, I want to get Psion's nomenclature right so I can clean up my code.
My trusty Fire 7 2015 running LineageOS is in service. It's not fast (low RAM and dog-slow SD card access) and Android 7 is becoming increasingly untenable (it spends 99% of the time with WiFi off), but it's reliable as hell.
Thank you to the developers of #Librera ereader software for continuing to support ancient Android versions! And yes, that screen really is green - I've got some visual processing issues and Librera lets me change colours.

I finished getting my 170+ #eBooks off #Amazon and into #Calibre and stripped the #DRM from them. As an interesting aside, something that I was aware of but hadn't really considered is I can have Calibre scan news websites daily and create #ePub books to read on my device.
Now I'm just trying to find the right reading app to use on my device. The leading app right now is #Librera, but I miss having shelves / groups in it. But I love the integration of #ProjectGutenberg and #InternetArchive.

El Palacio de la Magdalena, en Santander. Este lugar lo construyó la ciudad de Santander (con el dinero de los ciudadanos, claro) para regalárselo al rey Alfonso XIII y que después, su hijo Juan, padre de Juanito, se lo devolviera a la ciudad a cambio de 150millones de pesetas. ¿Buen trato, no? I read a lot and I annotate #ebooks on my Android ereader. But whether I'm using the open source #Librera or the closed source NeoReader, I cannot export the notes, bookmarks and annotations in a standardized way that keeps them connected to the actual book they refer to. Wouldn't it be great if annotations could be stored _inside_ the #epub so both remain connected? Or if there was a standard for exporting them that allowed us to import them in another reading app and get them re-linked to the correct locations in the ebook they refer to? Considering how long the epub standard has been around, it feels odd that's not been solved yet. Or has it?
Alternatively (or additionally), I'd love an epub reading app that automatically syncs highlights and annotations to #Obsidian. I know that Raindrop can do it for bookmarks. Which app can do it for epubs?

Recién ayer estaba buscando alternativas al Moon Reader. Y di con #Librera en #Fdroid. Está espectacular, tiene muchísimas opciones, muchas más que el Moon incluso, que usaba hace 5 años y por más opciones que había revisado no había encontrado ninguna que se le igualara.
Compartan esta publicación, me sorprende que una app tan buena fuera tan desconocida acá, incluso en el círculo de amistades lectoras
