  1. Looking for a #FOSS #pomodoro timer for #KDE?
#KTeaTime is not a pomodoro timer per se, but it does an amazing job of both staying out of the way and being where you need it.
I mean, supposedly it's for making tea, but don't let that confuse you—I haven't found a better desktop application for running pomodoro sprints (Tomato tea-s) yet. 😁 😁

  2. For today's #LibreMonday I'd like to call attention to Eidetic: an #opensource #Android #application currently available through #FDroid that is a wonderfully short, delightful memory game.
It also doubles as a cool party trick, if you give it to someone unsuspecting. The blank stares when the numbers get hidden are priceless 😇😇

  3. The addition of dark mode in #LibreOffice 25.2 earlier this year took me by surprise at the time, but today I opened a Google Sheets document and... I'm honestly appalled that it still doesn't have a dark mode! 😂
Good job setting a higher bar of user expectations to the @libreoffice team, and long live #opensource going where even large companies are too afraid to! 💚✨

  4. When Google Authenticator started nagging to back up codes on Google's cloud—and thus to tie them all to one account which can also reset their passwords, a single point of failure 2FA is all about avoiding—it was writing on the wall to move away from it.

Thankfully, @ente Auth does not nag me to backup; yet I retain the option to do that to servers under my control.

Long live #FOSS! We get to have both a cloud-free & nag-free life and the option to use a cloud if we want! 🎉

  5. Okay, what. I finally got a Bluetooth dongle that works with #linux (a TPLink UB400), and straight away, out of the box, I can:
Connect to bluetooth headphones and listen to music.
Connect my phone, and.. get music from the phone playing on the computer? With no configuration?
    I. am. in. awe. - all my devices are working together! 😮😮
For reasons, today's #libremonday shoutout goes to #pipewire (again 🥲) and #bluez. Thanks to everyone who made Bluetooth work this well! 🎉 🎉

  6. It's #libremonday again!
Ever wanted a camera that lets you manually control the focus and exposure settings for that one perfect shot from your mobile device? That can save RAW images, including individual HDR shots? Or perhaps, just a camera that doesn't always open Google Photos instead of your gallery app?
All of that, and more, is #OpenCamera - a delightful to use, GPL-licensed #foss Camera app, available on F-droid, customizable to fit you, in every way!
    opencamera.org.uk/

  7. Even needed an image of your signature for a document? If you are anything like me, that's a long process, involving signing scratch paper, taking a photo, editing it, ... all for one signature just as insecure as if you reused the previous one!
If you are on #linux however, you can try github.com/Wazzaps/fingerpaint out! It allows making such images using your laptop's touchpad, saving time and paper, while keeping the spirit of making an unique signature for each document.
    #FOSS rocks! #libremonday

  8. Aves Libre is a #foss #opensource gallery and metadata explorer for Android
Like many others, I got fed up with Google's constant backup nags, and switched to find:
    * A beautiful, sleek, and performant design. (I can quickly find landscape photos with the Mosaic view! 🥳)
    * A customizable photo-action toolbar.
    * A way to browse photos by country or size or anything else.
    * A peace of mind it won't randomly send my photos to Google.
    Check it out! github.com/deckerst/aves

  9. I remember I started toying around with @GIMP when I was still around 6~10 yo, and I spent many many hours just looking through menus and learning the various filters and tools.
It wasn't all intuitive, but trial and error went a long way; I still remember the joy of finally figuring out that tiny selection mask button!
Yet, a markedly more fun moment was seeing mom try to coax a Windows-based image editor to crop images, while GIMP did that with ease. Really, #FOSS is a superpower! #libremonday

  10. It's #LibreMonday and I remembered a few day ago about a great game project born with the release of the #ArxFatalis source code : #ArxLibertatis arx-libertatis.org/. If you are a #UltimaUnderworld fan, this is a great game. I always like that kind of projects as it helps understanding the inside mechanics of the game.

  11. I just used odf2txt ( github.com/dstosberg/odt2txt/ ) to count up all the words I wrote over the last few months in a dozen-or-so .ODT documents.
    (`echo *.odt | xargs -n 1 odt2txt | wc -w`)
Long live open data formats and free software! Any closed-source solution with proprietary data formats would have had to specifically have a function for that, but using #foss allowed me to do what I want without having to rely on the foresight of the original developers. #libremonday

  12. @wraptile Your post could also qualify for #libremonday! ✨

Kdenlive is really great! I've also used it for editing coding lessons (though I record with OBS, just to have a camera in the corner), and the workflow is so, so pleasant! (: Glad to hear it works well for you too!

  13. Would you look at that! It's #libremonday again! (It sure would be nice to get more people participating in it...)
Anyway, for this week, I want to give a shout-out to LLDAP (Light LDAP), github.com/lldap/lldap, which is a really neat, low-configuration server that can fulfill all of your #ldap needs as a smaller organization that doesn't need the complexity of other solutions.
For example, I use limit password explosion between a few self-hosted apps for the students in my programming course.

  14. Last week, I finally re-experienced the joy of composing music (as opposed to just playing by notes) after playing around with #MIDI, #pipewire and... *drumroll* #Carla!
_Carla_ is a patchbay for connecting different audio components together plus a plugin host for those same components. It is really nice to link audio processors together to get the sound one wants!
And that's—all open-source, made by @falktx—thanks man, you brought many smiles to my face last week (: #libremonday

  15. Have you heard? diffr is one of the coolest ways to highlight the meaningful changes in a #git diff! Even GitHub doesn't do diffs so well at the moment! 😁

Image: output of git with diffr on the left, default git output in the middle, GitHub's interface on the far right. Try to see which one is easiest for you to follow!

Oh and of course. The whole thing is free software under the MIT license! #libremonday

    github.com/mookid/diffr

(Also, since recently, it supports UTF-8 and emoji! 😊😊)

  16. It is #LibreMonday once again ! And this is a special one: if you're into #gamedev then you probably already know about @godotengine , right? If not, then you probably should - and follow the #GodotEngine hashtag while you're at it 😜 godotengine.org/

  17. It's #libremonday! Meaning, it's time for another free software shoutout: #jitsimeet!
Jitsi is a group videoconferencing solution, which allows, well, groups of people to call over video, with nothing more than a web browser. It can be entirely self-hosted, on-premise, off-premise, you name it, it can—because it's free and open source. Not only that, but the whole thing works with no fuss, no plugins, and... yes, it just works. Even has a whiteboard.
    ..I am impressed.
    <"take my money" meme here>

  18. Another Monday, another #LibreMonday 🌞 ! Use the hashtag to share a free and/or open source project you like and spread the love ! ❤️

  19. @bojidar_bg You just kept the #libremonday party going! Thanks so much for the shoutout and we love how you're getting the most out of Thunderbird! 😊 💙

  20. Oh no! I seem to have missed #libremonday yesterday!
Regardless, my slightly-delayed shoutout of the week goes to.. @thunderbird! With support for multiple inboxes, calendars, contacts, and (best of all, IMHO) RSS/Atom feed (and even XMPP), it's great way to reassert control over your inbox and newsfeed, and not be subservent to Google's innocent followup reminders or social media's incessant infinite-scroll content. 🎉
All of that available at your nearest package manager! 📦

  21. So far today for #LibreMonday I've been using the mighty but often overlooked @libreoffice even with all the projects I do in Inkscape, FreeCAD, KiCad and more... it's by FAR my most used opensource package!

  22. It's #LibreMonday again!

This week I want to give a shoutout to Paperless-ngx (a fork of a fork!), which I use for managing my documents (think invoices, insurance stuff, etc). It helps me getting my monthly accounting runs done, and its OCR feature combined with some email rules and a dual sided scanner that scans directly into its intake folder has allowed me to finally be able to easily find whatever I'm looking for.

  23. Isn't this the best day of the week to share your favourite #Libre #opensource #freesoftware ? Yes it is! 🤩 This is #LibreMonday 🚀 ! Use the hashtag, no need to respond this post 🥳

  24. Another #LibreMonday!

Today I want to celebrate #Zigbee2MQTT which enables me to integrate a whole ton of zigbee based sensors into my home automation setup. Whenever I look into adding a new sensor these days, I first check whether it's supported by z2m already, and usually it is.

And things just work. That's one of the most important things when it comes to home automation - getting forced into tinkering because the light no longer will switch on is not something enjoyable ;)

  25. What day is this? Yes, it's #LibreMonday 🥳 ! Feel free to share your favourite #Libre #opensource #freesoftware in the hashtag and let everyone know about it!

  26. Saw a couple people were trying to get #LibreMonday off the ground. Here's my contribution.

https://manifold.markets/ is a free and open source prediction market platform that allows users to place bets on if something will happen using internet points. The calibration (how accurate the site is) is extremely good. The community is also amazing and extremely kind. I highly recommend you check it out.

  27. So, apparently it's #LibreMonday? Let's see.. shotout to @kdenlive who save their projects as real #mlt framework files, meaning I could easily hook them up to a build pipeline and generate all my output videos with a single command! 🎉 💚 #floss and open data formats for the win!

  28. @foosel @StraToN Thanks for the shoutout Gina! Glad to have you on board. Love the idea.

  29. About to fire up #KiCad ... no better way to start #libremonday than some excellent #floss #opensource software for PCB design.
