At first, I was trying to figure out how to connect Spotify like on last.fm, only to realise later that you have to use the WebScrobbler extension);
ListenBrainz: (Probably Last.fm's biggest rival? A while ago it seems the CEO founder passed away; it's driven by the open-source community, but the API rate limits are quite strict! For example, using multi-scrobbler to sync a massive amount of records from last.fm will crazily throw 429 errors);
Maloja: (Self-hosted, but the data source is synced over via multi-scrobbler, which means I'm still using Last.fm, just with a different front-end UI. Moreover, the feature pages are quite bare-bones; only the album wall on the homepage is really worth looking at. I stopped hosting Maloja and multi-scrobbler a long time ago);
But none of them are as intuitive and easy to use as last.fm, nor do they have such a comprehensive ecosystem (for instance, from streaming services like Spotify, local players like MusicBee, browser extensions like WebScrobbler, to social discovery features, and so on and so forth);
However, the open-source community clearly prefers ListenBrainz. For example, GoToSocial has integrated ListenBrainz. If I hadn't already become so deeply invested in Last.fm and been put off by ListenBrainz in the past, I might be on ListenBrainz now on both Last.fm and ListenBrainz right now (), plus the lastfm API is really generous!
There's also teal.fm, but it's just been saying "Coming Soon"?

ListenBrainz is a wonderful service by #MusicBrainz, and is a great way of keeping track of your listens. Lots of players, media servers and scrobblers support their API. It is possible to improve what you see by editing the open MusicBrainz data.
You can import your listens from #lastfm and #librefm if you like.

Released version v0.5.6 of mpris-scrobbler the last.fm, libre.fm and listenbrainz service for linux.
It works with any media player that supports MPRIS DBus extension.
