If anyone is interested, there is also Nano Pi NEO which is very cheap. It runs both FreeBSD and Linux. In general Allwinner H3 is both cheap and very power efficient. You could even easily power it using only solar!

There is also #LibreComputer #Tritium with H3 or H5. They offer 1GB RAM instead of 512MB.

  3. I just got the NPU driver working for my #librecomputer Alta AML-A311D-CC!

...but what do I do with it? Any ideas, #homelab & #selfhosted?

It runs #Tensorflow Lite if I understand everything right.

  4. I have a #LibreComputer Alta and a Libre Computer Le Potato who beg me to use them xD

  5. Libre Computer is making compute module versions of its latest Amlogic single-board computers

Libre Computer has revealed that its working on new compute modules that use the same form factor as Raspberry Pi’s CM4 and CM5, although there are a few differences in the pin layout, so it’s unclear if they’ll work with the same carrier boards.

But Libre Computer says its coming modules are more energy-efficient thanks to “low power state support with features like wake-on-LAN/IR/IO/CEC and […]

  6. Mini PCs rule!

This evening it is finally arrived the GMKtec Mini Computer Intel N97 12gen Alder Lake I ordered a couple of weeks ago.

Now I look forward to install #FreeBSD on it, and to taste that joy you feel when you erase #Windows from a brand new computer... 😍

If you see at the dimensions, it is just slightly bigger than a #RPI2, while it is much more powerful than a #RPI5 and it came equipped with 12GB and 256GB SSD. Not bad! 😏

It will replace my #LibreComputer #Renegade, which has served me very well so far, but now I need more power and the ability to work on a browser without hiccups...

If everything is going to work as I wish, I am going to release a new article about my (new) #ghostpc with this tiny computer running FreeBSD.

  8. Minor upgrade. Added an 128G eMMC module to my running on . armbian-config made it simple to transfer the installed OS from the sd-card to the emmc module. Had to fix a permission problem on one file to get pihole web ui working again.

  10. Good news @Fediverse,

#LibreWolf aka #librewolfbrowser is now providing a new #Debian repository that serves also #aarch64; I've just installed it on #Devuan 5 Daedalus and I am actually writing this very post with it from my #librecomputer "Renegade" Board!

    Thanks LibreWolf Team! 🙏

  14. Well, the #Ubuntu image I pulled from #LibreComputer is….not great.

I’m about to give up and just use one of my RPi’s. Pretty sure all I have are RPi2.

  16. So #Fedora's #Amlogic support is apparently limited. Even though #LibreComputer lists Fedora 39 as tested on Le Potato, they don't go into how they got it working.

Libre Computer's documentation has always been really bad.

I think it's booting. I believe it's actually coming online. But I can't find working credentials to log in remotely, and local console doesn't work _at all_.

#Ubuntu works, though. I really don't want to use Ubuntu.

  20. I've been using #Docker on my #LibreComputer, an #SBC about equivalent to a Raspberry Pi 3, with 2 GB of RAM. I was just reading about #Podman as a drop-in replacement for Docker. Does anyone have any experience using it? Will it use noticeably less system resources? Any gotchas?

  22. Libre Computer's new $35 Sweet Potato is a Raspberry Pi-like single-board PC that's similar to the 6-year old Le Potato board, but which features upgrades including DDR4 memory, 16MB of SPI boot ROM storage, a PoE header and USB-C port for power. linuxgizmos.com/libre-computer #LibreComputer #SweetPotato #SBC #AmlogicS905X

  23. @kkarhan I'm at least glad they have mainline support in the Linux kernel and u-boot, I can't imagine trying to patch either of those based on the documentation I've seen from #firefly and #librecomputer

  25. What are the odds that someone here happens to know how to disable USB boot on the #LibreComputer #LePotato #sbc (AML-S905X-CC to be precise)? Can't get mine to boot with an external drive connected.. (and asking on their official forums does not provide any answers)

  26. I am currently trying to get rid of the following #electronics

    * #PinePhone + extra motherboard

    Anyone in Australia interested?

  27. CW: Expensive nerd hobby update

#LibreComputer and #Armbian updates of the afternoon:

    - The Libre Renegade running Armbian has no trouble driving a #Wacom input tablet. I didn't need to install anything, I just plugged it in and it works.
    - Libre Renegade with Armbian has also worked immediately with both cheap USB Wifi dongles I have attached to it.

#Ansible roles for setting up a school lab are progressing. Pic below is the Renegade looking smug.

  28. With Raspberry PIs SBCs still hard to find or out of my price range, I found this Libre Le Potato Board for $35.00 bucks, doesn't have the WiFi - but does have 2gb of ram, It seems to run #Armbian fairly well, but I haven't had a chance to try out any hats or do any real tests on it. It does seem to have a overscan problem with this display, but otherwise it's good.
I didn't mind adding USB WiFi - kind of reminds of how things were with the Rpi 2B.

  29. @librecomputer But I wonder if there are less modular, ok(ish) quality wise, with a lower price tag available. Recommendations anyone? #LibreComputer #AskFediverse
