  1. Libre Computer is making compute module versions of its latest Amlogic single-board computers

Libre Computer has revealed that its working on new compute modules that use the same form factor as Raspberry Pi’s CM4 and CM5, although there are a few differences in the pin layout, so it’s unclear if they’ll work with the same carrier boards.

But Libre Computer says its coming modules are more energy-efficient thanks to “low power state support with features like wake-on-LAN/IR/IO/CEC and […]

  2. Finally today my memory cards arrived so I can enjoy playing with Libre Computer Alta. And when you do SBCs, Do NOT buy a cheap ordinary memory card. Or like me you will waste time and money. Alternatively, you could even go for M.2 SSD or boot from USB 3 if your SBC supports that.

  7. Libre Computer annonce Solitude, une carte sous Amlogic S905D3
Solitude c'est le nom de ce nouveau SBC sous SoC ARM Amlogic S905D3 au format Raspberry Pi 3 annoncé par Libre Computer.... #minimachines #amlogic #librecomputer

  8. So #Fedora's #Amlogic support is apparently limited. Even though #LibreComputer lists Fedora 39 as tested on Le Potato, they don't go into how they got it working.

Libre Computer's documentation has always been really bad.

I think it's booting. I believe it's actually coming online. But I can't find working credentials to log in remotely, and local console doesn't work _at all_.

#Ubuntu works, though. I really don't want to use Ubuntu.

  9. Well, THIS was fun ;) hub.libre.computer/t/libre-com

Notes for #OSX. If you use homebrew, run

"brew Install pyusb" before trying to run “python3 -m pip install pyusb”

You'll also need "brew install git" if you don't have it installed :)

Everything else works as per these instructions.

    For 2023 a #LibreComputer AML-S905X-CC (#LePotato) (2GB) is my personal base level hardware platform

Anything I develop/make has to be usable on the current base level hardware platform

Expect to run zsh, X11, openbox(?), Emacs, terminal, neomutt, newsboat, mastodon?, tor, i2p?

Test if Gnome is usable... ? xfce? CDE? is GnuStep still active? no desktop?

    Get used to do #Email, #UseNet, #Gopher, #IRC, #RSS in #terminal or #Emacs

Use #Emacs and #TeΧ to write (dead tree) letters and missives (PDF?)

    Maybe do more in #RawText?

Do callender things again on paper/pencil, #43folders, Whiteboard, etc.. physical things

Expand use of Gopher, Gemini, IndieWeb?

    IM.. #XMPP via Dino? +OMEMO

Find a sustainable open source alternative for keybase? Or develop a distributed alternative using tor or i2p? Trust via FOAF?

    Develop in #Pascal, #Lisp, #Ruby, #Haskell, #Scheme, #Forth :D

    #DigitalBarn
    #DigitalShed?

    Keep repositories in #mercurial,
    maybe source hut?

    #DigitalDorm?

Find an #anonymous #pseudonymous hosting solution... shell account?... like rawtext.club, tildeverse.org, sdf.org .. ...my own?

Get a low power #amd64 box? bc too many FOSS projects are still not platform independent & x86 only v.v

    Optimize to run many VMs?

Maybe can run #android in VM and run banking, insurance, and other apps there? Otherwise maybe get an used M1 mac and run the #iOS apps? perhaps some <100 euro android phones will do as well? otherwise get an iPad mini and use that for the next 5-6 yrs

Maybe set up a #FileServer (#NAS?) maybe even network boot? and perhaps even a #Postgresql database? Is having SQL DB available on the local network going to be useful? What about other databases?

    #DigitalStreams (#FediVerse?)

    #DigitalCampfires (#Tumblr? Blogs?)

Bring #DigitalGardens to the "#TheDarkNet" and set up basecamp there, #tor onion services, a p2p chat/IM app, etc.. also explore #i2p and see how to simplify using it.

    #DigitalHome?
    (Tilde?)

Get back into #AI (but forget Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Innocence?) I want Augmented Intelligencekm

Explore as many other fun projects as well ... Who knows, I might like them and use them more often...

  11. #tic80 on #LibreComputer update:

    - The headless #rasbian image from Libre did a nice job getting #LePotato online with a cheap USB Wifi dongle
    - Next up I'll start on the #ansible role to inflate from a raw headless Raspbian image into some kind of Tic80 kiosk. Probably on #i3wm so the escape keys can be used to run other processes when I need them.

Should result in a $70 computer that kids can sit at to learn to code
