FSF is fine having pedophile enablers on its board. It's past time to move on from them. And since we're now in a post-copyright world, we also need to move beyond thinking copyleft provides leverage.
I don't know what we do in their place except that it should be community-forward. Maybe start with the #LibrarySocialism folks?

I'm extremely happy to announce that Neighborgoods 0.1 has been released!
Neighborgoods is a platform which allows people and organizations to setup a #library of many different kinds, and #federate them together to provide a large resource for borrowing, sharing, and giving.
This is our first release, which has basic setup of #distributedlibraries , which are groups in an area where people share goods.

Usufruct is an odd word, but for those of us interested in radical sharing, it's also quite useful.
If we think of the most powerful people as misanthropic Malthusian accelerationists that are aware of how bad the climate catastrophe is getting, many of their behaviours make sense. I'm not saying this is the whole absolute reality, but the data fits and the causal mechanisms are logically sound. If someone else can provide a more correct model, particularly if it changes the following conclusions, I am interested.
If we accept this model, it follows directly that they view the majority (>90%) of humanity as something between a disposable resource to exploit to death and a direct enemy to be destroyed as soon as possible.
Given that conclusion, I ask if it does not follow that all means of self defense and rebellion against them are not justified? Any attempts to dissuade them is against a short timeline of real threat and the urgency this model assumes they are already operating under.
Any other possible models or conclusions are invited. Pearl clutching and explicit (legally actionable) calls to action will be ignored. And any proposed elaborations or improvemrnts are welcome.

With the election of Donald Trump, and the further cementing of far-right and fascist rhetoric in the systems of empire, we have two choices. To despair and be paralyzed with fear. Or use our resistance to create persistence.

Ideas within #solarpunk can carry over into concrete resistance and action. We can combine convivial and low-tech solutions to use and reuse the waste of capitalism to provide everything we can for people. We can resist the fascist takeover by building systems based on #librarysocialism, ensuring free and equitable access to the things people need to live outside of the monetary system.
Within the ashes of a fascist take over, our resistance to it can be the seeds for lasting change. Not only do we need to carry out antifascist action, but those actions should act as a catalyst for building collective liberation.
We will see a massive protest movement arise. We need to be sure that these protests don't remain just shouting and marching demos, but form them into mass movements of action. Every step the fascists and the empire takes needs to be met with concrete action.
The battle for the future is two fold. By undermining the powers of capitalism by taking the proverbial 'carrot on a stick' away from capitalist systems - we also make it easier to resist fascist street gangs and ideology. Our resistance will become our persistence.

was listening to half of the wrongboys' "how to make #LibrarySocialism" and it's just so sad.
it starts of great with making bottom up sharing infrastructure, but then "lobbying" so their structures will be upheld by state law and having "municipally" owned thing libraries, and "ultimately it will probably all be municipally owned".
this is why i can't fucking trust people who call for "democracy"/"socialism". they virtually never really understand why ruling over people is wrong.
Enda bedre, selvsagt, hadde vært å bare gjøre det enkelt å låne gratis det meste av det du trenger, og gi korte avstander til ting som vaske-automater og andre ting som gjør at du ikke har behov for å være lønnsslave i utallige timer for å ha råd til å kjøpe nødvendige ting som går raskt istykker. I didn’t even know #LibrarySocialism was a thing until 30 days ago. Here we all are yearning for that model of openness and sharing. I know I’m on the right mission when nihilists keep showing up to tell me my ideas are pointless. A consumer union, a fruitless endeavor. A General Strike in the U.S.A. an impossibility I should feel ashamed for entertaining thoughts about.
Resist.

I've got a 4 year old Synology NAS that I overprovisioned HDD by about %1000 and which we never really used for file sharing on prem (i.e. at home).
This is calling out to become our media server for music, television, and movies. That and I want to put several years of my experience at #Netflix in managing metadata and the actual streaming bits of data to good use, but from a home, community, and #LibrarySocialism lens.
There is me & people like me, who know how the sausage is made; have the recipe for the secret sauce, the 11 herbs and spices; know of the man behind the curtain. If it isn't me, it'll be someone else. A confederation of elses. Of helpers.
There is nothing that BigTech built that we cannot rebuild for ourselves to fit our needs. Especially when you strip away the bloat, and cruft, and dead ends that were once someone's launchpad for a job promotion and then left to languish; the dark patterns; the intentional interference with competitors. What's left is much lighter weight

Also me: *screams in overly redundant and wasted cloud compute and cache storage*
Too much of a good thing can also be bad. This feels strongly to me like too much #decentralization. Let's imagine something else that isn't a return to CloudFlare and Fastly capitalist capture of the commons, but also isn't as individualistic as what we seem to building as its replacement.
