TIL that #libimobiledevice actually implements "reverse tethering"

1. Compile usbmuxd from source
2. Use systemctl edit usbmuxd to add

[Service]
Environment=USBMUXD_DEFAULT_DEVICE_MODE=3

1. Connect the iPhone
2. Create a bridge interface, using the following instructions or similar: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/network_bridge#Assigning_an_IP_address
3. Add usb0 to the bridge
4. Bring usb0 up

Voilà, your iPhone should now be able to access the internet through your Linux device.

At this point, with the number of hours I've put in to try to get #libimobiledevice / #usbmuxd2 working, I'd probably be better off "just" buying a Mac Mini

If an application supports an Apple device, that's not supported by Apple themselves anymore, it's most likely built based on #libimobiledevice.
