    Long post

Edit: I'm appending more examples from the bottom of the list so you can review your favourite/boost

I often get the feeling that most of you would unfollow if you read all my posts and replies and honestly I'm fine with that so I'm going to just state a bunch of my controversial opinions now to rip off the bandaid

Eating other animals is murder and paying for their flesh and secretions is the same as hiring an assassin

Billions of land animals are killed every year for human taste preference (trillions if you count weight estimates from sea creatures): there is no greater injustice past or present and there is therefore little to no suffering that could possibly fall upon humans as a result of correcting this that would ever not be worth it.

Dogs and cats can be vegan with supplemented diets for taurine for example

Its in my bio but the bible and the quran both advocate killing queer people so there is no way to call them good sources of morality.

Speciesist language that establishes a moral hierarchy of species or perpetuates depersonalizing or deindividualizing stereotypes are harmful and there is no good reason to use them: such as chicken pig weasel dog cow snake rat inhuman, "animal" (as insult or as a way to imply humans aren't animals) many such examples dm for a long txt

Sex negative language hurts women and queer people most such as fuck, blow/suck, dick, pussy, jerk-off, slut/tart/whore

White supremacy, patriarchy, cisheteromononormativity, ageism and ableism are real. Representation matters.

Children can be trans and they deserve gender affirming care especially hormone blockers which are themselves the compromise in this discussion as they are reversible

Children are widely regarded as property, status symbols or as a pets to satisfy the parent's desires and generally speaking aren't given enough rights for example freedom of association freedom of speech freedom of movement

Schools are prisons designed to instill unquestioning obedience to arbitrary authority more than anything else. They teach children that their free time is never truly theirs that they should be dedicating their life to the institution that knowledge and truth comes from authority not inquiry and, in schools with uniforms, that self expression is dangerous and will be punished

Borders kill for no good reason, they don't stop international crime but they do prevent periphery citizens from attempting to flee to the imperial core that is pillaging them. It is far easier for a citizen of the imperial core to get a passport almost anywhere in the world than it is for someone in the periphery to get a visa in the imperial core. Borders are the primary cause of modern slavery.

Any citizen of a country in the imperial core is a beneficiary of neocolonialism.

The vast majority of people believe one or more of the justifying myths of kyriarchy, by that I mean that they have beliefs that are either white supremacist human supermacist misogynist ableist queermisic ageist cisheteromononormative etc.

Private property is theft. Here I am using the socialist definition of private property: when your boss takes a tax off your work and gives you back a fraction of the value you create that is theft

Money in any system creates an exponential power imbalance and will lead to systems of domination

Actually private cryptocurrency like Monero XMR (not bitcoin or ethereum) is a reasonable engagement with money for anarchist praxis and as an anti surveillence and anti censorship technique

There is no justifiable use case for generative AI in programming or as part of any other creative output

Signal App is not censorship resistant or anonymous enough to facilitate revolutionary organization and something decentralized like SimpleX, Cwtch or Briar is preferable.

I2P>Tor (for hosting hidden servers) as its more censorship resistant

Hierarchical organization will produce societies with hierarchical power structures and is antithetical to the ideals of socialism: ie: marxism leninism is wrong and counter productive and you should all be anarchists.

Israel has no right to exist, nor does any country, but israel is built on colonialism and genocide just like the United States of America, Austrailia, New Zealand, South Africa etc. and as such israel shot first. There is no moral equivalence between genocidal violence and liberatory armed resistance.

Psychiatry as a field is first and foremost an immune response from kyriarchy to individualize social problems and medicalize anti authoritarian tendancies. veganism.social/@ambiguous_yel

Pets exist for the benefit of humans not non-humans who have their reproduction controlled and monitored for profit and are separated from their families kept in isolation a lot of the time and punished for displaying natural behaviours or for having mental health problems.

Sex work deserves no less respect than modelling or athleticism.

Pornography and masturbation doesn't atrophy your brain you fell for a christian misinformation campaign

Pedophiles need therapy, killing them or putting them in prison just discourages people from getting help

Drug addiction is a health issue and largely a matter of bodily autonomy especially when done in private. Criminalizing drugs makes the drugs themself and accessing them more dangerous and discourages people from seeking professional help

Prisons are universities of crime and countries that focus on rehabilitation have lowest recidivism rates

  2. CW: jux politics learning arc (caps)

I DID IT. I'VE SOLVED SOCIALISM (jk this has probably been proposed by theorists before. this is vague and incomplete, but in my naive view i think it's a good starting point for a proper plan)

step 1 get a social democracy

notice: social democracies care about workers, at least - - in theory

step 2: workers can propose a policy and call for a referendum on whether the government should implement it or not. if protests are necessary, they should happen (peaceful protests tho!). the policy: all previous and future private employment contracts have to be redone and turned into an ownership lending contract. this contract must state that every owner, including the original founders of a firm, has equal ownership over the firm

    - if the populace decides it's a good policy, it should be implemented. if it's not implemented, there would probably be a revolution

    - if the government doesn't do the referndum, also revolution will probably happen

step 3: the policy gets implemented

    step 4: wait a bit

step 5: WELCOME to market socialism

it is now a matter of time until the "market" part disappears. more policies should be implemented to prevent the reprivatization of the market and promote cooperation over competition as well as organization openness to create trust between workers

i'd greatly appreciate if ppl could refer me to existing literature or theory on possible realistic and non-forceful ways to turn capitalism into socialism, from libertarian socialism theorists, preferably stuff similar to this

  3. #DSA

"Democratic Socialists" aren't socialists. "Democratic socialism" isn't socialism. It's just candy coated capitalism. It still has bosses. Bosses still own the means of production. DSA propose a better safety net and a better benefit/retirement package, but so what? A gilded cage is still a cage.

#LibertarianSocialism is real socialism. Anything less is a fraud and a sham.

  6. @PeachMcD

Anarchists are not attempting to get to an "ideal form of governance". There is no such thing. No one has the right to govern anybody. What we are doing is creating an ideal society, one piece at a time, from the ground up. The ideal society must, by definition, have an ideal economy. It's called #LibertarianSocialism, i.e., worker self-owned, worker self-managed workplaces, federated in whatever ways they choose.

Libertarian Socialism is already up and running and merely needs to grow. See:

    #NoBAWC

    #Mondragon

    etc.

I myself put in 26 years at Bound Together Anarchist Bookstore Collective, a NoBAWC shop. We didn't have a boss. We didn't need one. We held a meeting once a month to do what a boss would do in a normal shop, i.e., manage the business. It worked fine.

The coop principle is scalable. It ranges from ad hoc neighborhood food purchasing coops to Mondragon, a multi-national, multi billion dollar enterprise.

Decisions should be made by the people they effect. Everybody else should butt out.

We apply the basic principles of anarchism to everything we do, starting with, but in no way limited to, work:

    Sharing
    Cooperation
    Solidarity
    Mutual Aid
    Direct Action

    *****
Here's a true story about one such coop. Perhaps it may inspire you:

In about '73-4 some people in New Haven, Connecticut started a food coop. My communal household was the 12th household to join. One night a week, at three in the morning, one of the households would go to the loading dock and buy wholesale produce when it came in, fresh off the trucks, then take it back to the house and divide it up. We rotated this task. More and more households joined.

Pretty soon we were moving enough food that the living room floors of communal households weren't a big enough sorting space. There were about 1500 of us. We chipped in and rented an unused bodega on the Hill (a ghetto neighborhood), not to do retail, but just to have enough floor and shelf space to sort the food. We also were able to store non perishables there so we could buy that stuff in bigger lots.

We immediately ran into another food coop operating in the neighborhood. It was all Black and based on the basement floors of a network of Black churches, instead of a network of living room floors like we were doing. Other than that, we operated exactly the same. There were about 1500 of them, too. We held one joint meeting and voted unanimously to fuse. Now there was 3,000 of us.

So we rented out this old abandoned supermarket. It might have once been a Kroger. I forget. One of those chains. We cleared one space out for childcare and another for socializing. The rest of the layout stayed the same. It had everything available that a grocery store had. Everything but the meat sold at 2% over cost, which covered the building's overhead. The meat was prorated according to cut because that was the only to make the money work.

The coop was staffed by volunteers, except we also hired a butcher and two part time drivers with the money we saved not having a boss. Then we acquired a grant writer who worked for commission. We spent the grant money on infrastructure. Membership was by household, not individuals. Tight scheduling made sure there was always enough staff on hand. It was never a problem.

The food was excellent. The people were the best ever. It became a sort of community hang out in addition to being the community pantry.

Sometimes political groups held meetings in the socializing area. It was sweet.

Then I moved to California and lost track of the place. Long story, for some other time.

  7. #RainbowGrocery #CooperativeEconomics #LibertarianSocialism

"Rainbow Grocery is a worker-owned cooperative, meaning its employees collectively own and democratically manage the business. Each worker-owner has an equal vote in major decisions, reflecting the co-op’s founding values of equality and shared responsibility.

Though modest in scale, the stores were backed by a bold idea: That food could be distributed ethically and labor could be organized without hierarchy. The concept attracted idealists, activists and those united by shared spiritual values.

'That part of the Mission wasn’t the greatest,' co-op worker/owner Pat Seguin told Mission Local in an interview about Rainbow’s 40th anniversary. 'A lot of people couldn’t afford clean, healthy food, nutritious food.'

While other food conspiracies fractured under the weight of ideological divisions and internal conflict, Rainbow endured.

    (. . .)

Beyond being a grocery store, Rainbow is a radical experiment in workplace democracy.

Everyone who works at Rainbow is an owner. After nine months on the job, new hires pay a $10 fee to become voting members of the cooperative. There is no CEO. Wages are equal, regardless of job title. Departments self-govern and hire their own."

  10. @aapis @rbreich

That's not true. *Some* American people wanted this. Most didn't. It happened anyway because electoral politics are eminently corruptable and the Electoral College is an evil, anti-democratic, relic from back in the days of slavery.

The majority of the American people either voted for that genocidal ex-cop or for nobody. Once again, nobody won hands down. We need a different system. This one only makes everything get worse.

Party politics is what got us into this mess in the first place. We don't elect our rulers. At most we elect a few of their henchmen. Our rulers themselves aren't elected officials. They're the #oligarchs that pull the elected officials' strings. Without capitalism, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Stop supporting capitalism and most of our problems either go away with it and/or at least we'll be able to solve the ones that don't. Climate change, for example, is a direct result of capitalists being in control of both resources and technology.

Step one: People need to learn the difference between markets capitalism.

    Step two: #LibertarianSocialism

  15. @MissGayle @DeanObeidallah

#StreetJustice on individuals is not enough. The entire capitalist system need to be dismantled and replaced with #LibertarianSocialism.

  16. @_Dreugan_ @feike @nerb @msb @randahl

That's not what the word "Libertarian" in "#LibertarianSocialism" means. Read some history of the term, or at least click the hashtag. Anarchists used the term over a century before it was claimed by these modern miscreants. Today, the word "libertarian" means nothing but "Republicans on drugs".

Libertarian Socialism and anarchism mean the same thing, society and social relations based on worker self-owned, worker self-managed, workplaces.

For working models, see #NoBawc, #Mondragon, etc. It scales. The smallest member of NoBawc is a pizza joint run by a handful of hippies. Mondragon is a multi-billion dollar, multi-national business.

  17. @feike @_Dreugan_ @nerb @msb @randahl

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic is self-evidently futile. In the short term, we need life boats. In the long term we need a plan. Only #LibertarianSocialism can save us from capitalism. It's a proven system, already up and running (see: #NoBAWC, #Mondragon, etc.), it needs to grow. Capitalism needs to die.

  18. There is a basic flaw in Dandy Andy's analysis of anarchists and anarchism in general. No, anarchists are not part of the "far left". Both "left" and "right", are styles of government. Anarchism is diametrically opposed to *any* style of government. We don't fit in the spectrum of binary political analysis. Personally, I prefer to think of us the forefront of the labor movement. Unlike the left, both near and far, we have moved beyond advocating for collaborationist "unions". It's like advocating for politicians to represent us. Politicians and union bureaucrats don't represent the working class. With very few exceptions, modern unions are essentially labor brokers. They represent their own narrow interest. What is in their own interest is a more favorable relationship between the capitalists and their own narrow (paying) membership. It keeps labor on the job. Que bono?

Anarchists do not advocate for better relationships with the capitalists. Anarchists advocate the abolition of capitalists. In its place, anarchists advocate for, and as far as possible practice, #LibertarianSocialism, i.e. worker self-owned, worker self-managed workplaces, federated with each other by the basic anarchist principles: sharing, cooperation, solidarity, mutual aid, and direct action. So-called "better representatives" are neither wanted nor necessary. We represent ourselves. This is antithetical to the core basics of leftism. They want to get rid of the bosses. They don't want to get rid of bossism. They want the boss's job. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Self-professed "leftists" have repeatedly slaughtered us wholesale and stacked our bodies in pits. It's time we learned our lesson. Leftists are not our friends. As allies they are unreliable. The only thing they ever do that benefits anarchists is swell the crowd at anti-fascist demos. In a real fight, they are only useful as the very cannon fodder for which they have used anarchists for a century. It would greatly behoove us to avoid having real fight with the fascists. #CivilWarII wouldn't be fought between states or regions. It would be fought between neighbors. It would be a bloodbath. It would also be America's national suicide. The world would pick our bones and we'd deserve it. A lot of people think we deserve it already.

Since we want peace, we must prepare for war. The fascists are planning to kill us in a bloody civil war. They are armed and dangerous. They're organizing, even as we speak. They have friends in high places. They have lawyers, guns and money. We'd damned well better be ready to deal with them if they ever work up enough nerve to attack. We'd better not planning to be cannon fodder for the left, either. The left would sell us out. Again. For sure. History is very clear on this point.

Does anyone sane still think we should disarm ourselves? Just wondering, not trying to incite any untoward behavior.

  19. @gwynnion

Yeah, and if my aunt had wheels, she'd be a wagon. None of your suggestions are possible as long as society practices #capitalism, except for getting rid of billionaires. There is a way to get rid of billionaires but it's slow and tedious, the Luigi method. Unfortunately, other billionaires would take their place.

I suggest that instead we reorganize society from the grassroots up to function along the basic principles of sharing, cooperation, solidarity, and direct action. In other words, practice, preach, and grow #LibertarianSocialism till capitalism withers on the vine.

  20. @BenAveling @Bugspriet @dbattistella

You must be thinking of *Bolshevik* communism. It's totally unlike *anarchist* communism, or as we call it, #LibertarianSocialism. It's most like early (pre-Constantine) Christian anarchism.

According to the bible, if you're not a communist, you're not a real Christian.

  23. @yianiris with #LibertarianSocialism you can have cake and eat it too.

For instance, bring back cooperative companies ffs - especially when it comes to energy. You should have to buy a stake in an energy company that operates in an area, or the water company, and no one can own a bigger percentage or be an outside investor.

In this model, the ones who own the companies are also it's clients, and you being more concerned about having access to clean water and cheap electricity trumps all.

"The basic premise of everything you read here is fairly simple and straightforward: we live in a tyrannical dystopia that’s driving humanity to its doom, and we need to wake up from the propaganda indoctrination and egoic delusions which keep us complying with the status quo so that we can use the power of our numbers to overthrow our oppressors and create a healthy world. We come at it from countless angles using all different approaches, but that’s the basic message and the idea underpinning it all."

  26. "The following adaptation of Ostrom’s rules for managing the commons is informed by libertarian socialism/communism/communalism, organizations and revolutions influenced by libertarian socialism that utilize community assemblies related to common decisions and resources, various commons Ostrom looks at, as well as an expanded history of commoning in multiple modes of subsistence:

    1. Participants know they are part of a group and what the group is about (Wilson, 2016).
    2. Agreements for sharing and at times rotating labor/work and implementation of decisions as well as for sharing the fruits thereof (Kropotkin, 1906, Sixth Commission of the EZLN, 2016, Ostrom, 2021, Usufruct Collective, 2022). People can co-create a cornucopia where there is more than enough for all or otherwise agree to specific ways of distributing less abundant fruits of re/production according to needs.
    3. Direct collective decision making by participants through deliberation. For there to be self-management of each and all, there must also be mutual non-domination. By extension, community assemblies related to the commons should utilize direct, participatory, and non-hierarchical forms of democracy (Bookchin, 2005b).
    4. Organizational transparency that allows participants to mutually-monitor the commons (Atkins, Wilson, Hayes, 2019). This can happen through the process of co-managing and interacting with the commons, collective action, living in community with others, relevant accounting/calculation as needed, and availability of relevant information to participants.
    5. Graduated defense against domination and exploitation such as: informal social disapproval, self-defense and defense of others as needed, and recourse to expelling someone from a particular collective (through deliberation, assembly, and due process) in response to the most extreme violations of the commons and freedoms of persons (Boehm, 2001, Ostrom, 2021, Usufruct Collective, 2023).
    6. Good-enough conflict resolution such as: people talking directly to each other, mediation to find out how to move forward, dispute resolution to resolve disputes, restorative justice and transformative justice processes for people to repair harm and transform causes thereof, and organization-wide assembly when the conflict is in regards to organizational form and content. (Kaba, 2019, Usufruct Collective, 2023).
    7. Communities and participants need sufficient autonomy to organize.
    8. The use of co-federation and embedded councils. Community assemblies can co-manage inter-communal commons in a way where policy-making power is held by participants and assemblies directly (Bookchin, 1992, Ocalan, 2014). This enables self-management and mutual aid within and between communities as well as inter-communal management of the commons. Community assemblies can utilize mandated and recallable councils and rotating delegates to implement decisions within the bounds of policies made by community assemblies directly (Bookchin, 1992, 2007, 2018).
