Growing up, although we never talked about it much, I knew my Granda had been a navigator in WW2, flying on Liberators. There was a photo he always had on display, of his crew next to the plane.
A couple of weeks ago we visited the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, and I got to see one of the few remaining Liberators for the first time.
It was amazing to see it, but also very sobering in all sorts of ways.
