The image will be clear. The voice will be familiar. The setting will be plausible. Millions of people will see it before any newsroom, court, agency, or laboratory can establish where it came from. The #LiarsDividend should be something everyone in the US should be familiar with by now: we've seen Cheetoh Mussolini employ it to great effect for over a decade now. And it harms us all.
I'd like to see, just once, a mainstream reporter confront that orange pustule with the term in a press conference.
