And here's a bunch of quick sketches from various speakers at LGM. Good drawing practice when people basically stand in the same spot for 5-20 minutes. #libregraphicsmeeting #lgm26 #lgm

I discovered PixiEditor at #LGM26. To get more familiar with it, I rewrote the GIMP tutorial for the Chrome Ball with PixiEditor. The workflow is completely different. I even ported the #GEGL panorama projection filter from @pippin to a Skia shader to achieve my goal.

@jwildeboer There was a nice talk from @eylul at the #LGM26 about a very similar question: "The elephant in the room: who owns the image?"

I discovered two programs at #LGM2026 that I hadn’t heard of before. They’re so exciting that I’ll probably spend more time with them in future. They are #TiXL and #PixiEditor. Unfortunately, neither of them is available on here — or maybe I just haven’t found them yet. Perhaps someone here could help me find the right accounts?

360° Map of the Nuremberg Area from 1581
I originally planned to publish this blog post during the #LGM26 in #Nurnberg Sadly, however, the image from the museum's object catalogue is under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, so I was not allowed to use it to create a VR panorama. Fortunately, however, the museum has given me permission today to use it under a CC0 1.0 license.

If you're into creative work and #opensource you might want to check out MABarbe's talk on "The State of #LibreGraphics" from this week's @lgm. It summarizes recent developments of large projects like @GIMP, @krita, @kdenlive or @inkscape, but also references more specialized initiatives like @penpot, #Hyper8, #Pexieditor, #Tixl, @friction or @Coollab. The #LGM26 site has a list of the mentioned projects, available via https://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2026/projects/

It's a wrap. The last day of the @lgm featured more cool talks including the one about a @fragdenstaat clicker game made in @godot. Kudos to the local team in #Nuremberg. I feel rewired and inspired. See you at the #libregraphicsmeeting 2027 in #Linz!

I'm at the #lgm26 and just updated my old #GIMP chrome ball tutorial to use some of the fancy new features of GIMP 3.2, such as linked layers, layer groups, and non-destructive layer effects.

Good morning, LGM! It’s Saturday and the final day of this year’s event. The sun is shining again today, and our stream and program will kick off early at 10:10 am.
After the event, we'd love for everyone to get together for a final evening at the Bieramt at Café Wanderer: https://www.cafe-wanderer.de/bieramt/. It's an outdoor spot at the top of the Old Town where we can grab drinks and hang out. Be sure to bring your jackets, and don't forget to grab some dinner on your way there!

Interesting talks, astonishing live demos. On the third day of @lgm I learned about some very cool #foss projects like #OssiaScore, @counterpunch or @liblast. Recordings of the talks are available!

Out of the Black and White: Unveiling the LGM 2026 Visual Identity
The black-and-white placeholder is gone. The new visual identity for LGM 2026 is live. We re:wired classical halftone printing into a real-time digital effect. The new design is built on custom WebGL2 shaders, algorithmic variable fonts, and animated screen angles.

Save the date: 2026-04-22 to 2026-04-25 LGM 2026 Nuremberg, Germany
Hello everyone,
we have a fixed venue and date for LGM 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany:
Wednesday, April 22nd to Saturday, April 25th, 2026. The event will be hosted at Zollhof (https://zollhof.de/).
We are now preparing the call for participation and the website, and will let you know about any updates.
Here's a heads-up: this time of the year is super busy for everyone, hence, we plan to make a soft start of the communication (website, call for participation, etc.) and launch the visual design of the edition a bit later in the process. But for now, it's important that you start sharing the date and mark it in your calendars!
Cheers, Lasse
