So delighted to have been awarded one of the @[email protected] Decadal Awards last night. It was a reminder of how much work we've done in the last 10 years and how much more there is yet to do. #LGBTQSTEM #QueerInSTEM

In case you need to refresh someone's memory about the causes of HIV and the need for ongoing anti-viral treatment (world-wide!) for those who are HIV positive.

Hai!
@ezraromero and I are enjoying some refreshing Castro 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️drinks on this mild Saturday afternoon 🌁 and wondering who your queer weather icons are?
We’re looking for researchers, advocates, meteorologists and more! #LGBTQStem🦄

"A Montana judge has blocked a gender affirming care ban for trans youth as unconstitutional, citing overwhelming medical evidence and violations of fundamental rights in the state constitution."

The Frontiers series of journals have launched a new form to let authors easily change their listed names, AND lets them decide between a correction and a silent change. Whether for transitions, marriages, divorces, or any other reason, name change for published scientists is a huge hassle. Other publishers, this should now be the bar to meet.

Hello world, hello #LGBTQSTEMDay! I’m Jens, putting the G in #LGBTQ. I’m a science advocate & #SciPol analyst in #Brussels. 🇪🇺 I used to be in #microbiology & #CellBiology, so I’m most interested in #HealthResearch.
#Reading is one of my passions - is there a #booktodon? Someone described my favorite #book genre as “literary but interesting”, a description I love. 📚
Looking forward to finding more #LGBTSTEM people who are #NewHere, or veterans.

Oh, it's #LGBTQSTEM day! I'd like to have something profound to say, but I'm still sick and sniffly. I'm still #ace and #gnc, which absolutely influences the way I think about science.
One of the things I think is really important about diversity in science that creates a real strength for queer people in science in particular, is our tendency to create idiosyncratic networks by finding to one another. Those connections can become collaborations or influences across societies and disciplines.

IGI alum Han Spinner (they/them) – who previously worked with Jennifer Doudna and Dave Savage on developing next-gen #CRISPR tools – is now working on #MachineLearning & protein design. #LGBTQSTEM #LGBTQSTEMDay

Next are Steffan Paul and Han Spinner, both members of Debora Marks’s lab! Steffan (pictured here, they/them 🏳️⚧️) – who was once selected as one of Harvard's most fashionable freshmen – is using data science, machine learning, and #AI for drug discovery 💊 #LGBTQSTEM #LGBTQSTEMDay

Virginia Tech grad student Aaron Brock (he/him) uses #genetics 🧬 and biochemistry approaches to study the bacterium that causes Lyme disease, focusing on how it grows and divides. #LGBTQSTEM #LGBTQSTEMDay

IGI's own @staciawyman works on all things computational related to #CRISPR: editing outcomes, off-target effects, CRISPR screens, and more. And if you run into her on campus, you might get to meet one of her pups! 🐶 #LGBTQSTEM #LGBTQSTEMDay

Happy #LGBTSTEMDay! Our artist @[email protected] (she/they) was inspired to promote queer representation by illustrating some contemporary queer STEM researchers – keep reading to find out a little about each person pictured! 🏳️🌈🧵

@TheLabAndField Same here! The #LGBTSTEM community is such a fabulous group to be with, regardless of the website we find each other on 🥰 #LGBTQSTEM #LGBTQ

I’m looking for a seminar speaker for our experimental (astro-)particle physics group on Nov 18. Since it’s also LGBTQ+STEM Day, I’d be particularly excited to welcome #LGBTQSTEM #BiInSci #TransInSTEM folks! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Seminar is online, so you can join us from anywhere in the world. Early career folks (incl. final year PhD students) welcome! #Astrodon #ParticlePhysics

CW: Hi astrodon, it's me, your local queer astronomy grad student. CW: gender spectrum
Sometimes I get questions about how I identify, so I thought I would clear some things up.
We're all familiar with the spectrum of light, radio waves to gamma rays. Well, you may also know that (one axis of) gender is also a spectrum, feminine to masculine.
If I had to pick a waveband that represented my gender, I'd go with gravitational waves.
Hope that helps.

Tonight, LGBTQ+ STEM receives (finally!) the 2020 Athena Prize from the Royal Society. Gutted I can't be there (rail strikes), but Beth will carry the torch.
A community built around twitter and an even that was so twitter-driven being recognized when the platform is entering a worrying transition is a tad ironic #LGBTQSTEM #QueerInSTEM

@bmatb Hello! ✌🏻 I’m looking for the #LGBTQSTEM crowd after The Move™️.
I’m a 🏳️🌈 research policy wonk/#ScienceManagement, formerly an infection biologist. I work in #Brussels, maybe there could even be a crossover with the #EUBubble. 🇪🇺🤔

Collaborator Jane Rigby has been awarded Out To Innovate LGBTQ+ Scientist of the Year 2022:

Jane is one of the sharpest minds and kindest persons I have ever met and I can only dream matching her on either front.
