  5. In July 1921, the #London County Council (#LCC) started operating the loss-making #Leyton Urban District Council #Tramways (LUDCT) and slashed fares on the system to boost ridership.

    Up to 1921, the LCC's 2d midday fare took you to the county boundary. When it took over LUDCT, the 2d fare's range was extended to Epping Forest, to see if it generated more #traffic. The LCC also advertised these changes, as this press advert shows

    More research is required on how this #transport experiment went.
