On "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, by Lewis Carroll
As I was wandering about in a marvelous book store in Morro Bay early last week I came across the Classics section. There I delightfully found Lewis Carroll’s combined "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass” in the Penguin Classics edition. Having not read these books, I thought this would be a fun diversion from some bleak histories that I recently completed.
We all have mostly heard of the main characters, White Rabbit, March Hare, Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, the King and Queen of Hearts, and of course Alice. As for me I was only loosely aware of the plot.
So on yesterday’s dreary rain filled day, I read Alice’s adventures. It was a good way to spend part of the day.
I’ll save “Through the Looking-Glass” for another rainy weekend.

As I watched the MV and saw the incorporation of Alice imagery, I was reminded of the continuing spell cast by those two books of Lewis Carroll.
I must read some of the more recent serious work on the Alice books and their author.

Interessant: Um #LewisCarroll (bürgerlich Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) ranken sich Gerüchte unterdrückter Pädophilie. Unter anderem soll er eine 11-Jährige habe heiraten wollen und hat viel nackte Mädchen fotografiert. Die Carroll-Forschoj argumentieren dagegen, dass Aktfotografie von Kindern im 19. Jhdt normal und geschmackvoll gewesen sei. Auch habe er viele Beziehungen und Affären mit erwachsenen Frauen geführt.
