Grateful I launched myself out of the gravity well and went to a charming, low key event hosted by Egg Press in honor of #PenPalDay, with is June 1st this year. They generously offered everyone 2 free cards, a fun ABCs of summer mini poster, stickers, and FREE POSTAGE! You could also buy more cards for only $1. They had tables set up and all the doors wide open because it’s lovely here today.

Geert de Koning, master printer at ‘Factotum Pers’, challenged himself to print his own colourful version of Alphabetum Romanum (Felice Feliciano), using polymer plates and letterpress printing. Expected Spring/Summer 2025.

I did some research on constructed capitals to use in the introduction I wrote.

Rainer Gerstenberg’s shop https://flickr.com/photos/15484239@N00/sets/72157711099417871 in Darmstadt is one of the last places in the world casting metal foundry type from the 20th century, including fonts from Olive, Nebiolo, Haas, Klingspor, Weber, and Stempel, where Mr. Gerstenberg was trained as an employee in 1963. https://www.rainer-gerstenberg.de/cast-lead-types/?lang=en Letterpress printers on both sides of the pond have relied on the foundry for new type.
