今天希望大家看见、记住的是已经离开我们快两年的埃及姐妹#SarahHegazi。2017 年 9 月，她在开罗某个音乐节上挥舞了彩虹旗，此后被以「道德败坏」为由逮捕，在狱中受到电刑和性侵，三个月后才获辩出狱。但此时，Hegazi 不仅失去了工作（在她入狱前，上司就因为压力将她开除），还要忍受来自家庭和社会的羞辱，这些打击使她患上了严重的抑郁症和创伤后应激障碍，时常处于焦虑和恐慌状态。

后来，她得到加拿大庇护，从此流亡海外。她的痛苦并没有得到减轻，而且自杀未遂两次。2020 年 6 月 14 日，她选择离开这个世界。

她留下了一封手写的遗书，上面写着：
「致我的兄弟姐妹们，我曾努力求生，但失败了，请原谅我。
致我的朋友们，这场磨难太痛苦，而我还没有足够的力量去抗争，请原谅我；
致这个世界，你太残酷了，但我原谅你。」
