An improbable moth species I saw in Ecuador earlier this year. Something in the Megalopygidae family - probably Trosia genus. I'd gone to Ecuador to look for birds, but many of the birding lodges had lights set up to attract the moths... to attract the birds... to attract the birders. As a result I got no sleep for 2 weeks.

For today's moth shot we have Feralia deceptiva. We only get 2 Feralia species in BC, and I'm lucky to catch them both where I live. Unique-looking species; even my moth-deploring wife admits they're pretty attractive.

Idalus critheis. One of the crazier moths I saw on a recent trip to Ecuador.

A Herald moth (Scoliopteryx libatrix) spotted nearby. Very unusual appearance - they'd be hard to confuse with anything else.
