@Secunergy I think that if it is mostly about German domestic opinion or politics, Germany could/should/would allow other countries to export their #Leopard_2

Addendum: for all I know #Germany should deliver #Leopard_2 tanks now. I do not know of any publicly available information that would suggest that this is a bad decision.

If in the end it turns out that #Germany did not deliver #Leopard_2 because #Scholz personally or other members of government were hesitating, they will probably go down in history for that. It would be utterly disappointing.

As of now I do not think that this is the case and I think that there is a larger strategy. 4/4

This leads me to believe that the explanation provided to the public is not really the truth.

Again I do not know, but I sincerely hope that there are reasons for what #Germany is currently (not) doing. I hope that we learn in the future that intelligence agencies provided our governments with good information and they made the right decisions.

Humans in #Ukraine are dying and #Leopard_2 would actually make a difference.

I think the previous statements are true for any other country that has Leo2 in stock.

If all other countries in NATO would want to deliver #Leopard_2 to #Ukraine, then Germany would probably not be able to resist the pressure.

I cannot believe that #Scholz and Biden would actually just discuss if Germany "feels" ready about delivering tanks. I do not know, but I hope that they are actually discussing reasons when and which tank should be delivered.

Short 🧵 on the 🇺🇦 tank debate.

It is really difficult to understand why #Germany is now checking its stocks of #Leopard_2 . That should have happened 11 months ago.

If Germany is good at anything, it is good at keeping track of everything. I do not believe that the #Bundeswehr does not know how many tanks it could spare. They should and surely did plan for this eventuality.

#KMW also already said what they can and cannot do.

@ij ich denke nicht, dass es darum geht, Schwächen des #Leopard_2 geheim zu halten. Natürlich können diese mit sowjetischer/russischer Technik zerstört werden. Das wurde in Syrien schon ausreichend gezeigt.

Ich denke, dass neben Scholz' persönlichem Zögern sicher auch Geheimhaltung der Technologie sowie der definitiv vorhandenen logistischen Herausforderungen eine Rolle spielen.

Unabhängig davon: es wird Zeit. UK liefert die ersten 4 Challenger direkt an die 🇺🇦 .

@sarananni Briten und Polen scheinen sich entschieden zu haben. Finnland sendet klare Signale. Wenn Deutschland weiter zögert, dann ist das der Alleingang. Ich hoffe, dass die Bundesregierung die Zeit nutzt, um im Hintergrund die Bestände und Zustand mit anderen Ländern zu koordinieren. Wie oft angemerkt: die #Ukraine braucht früher oder später auf jeden Fall #Leopard_2. Dann bitte früher und damit ukrainische Leben schützen.
