As a frequent traveller, I want gear that does the job, but is small.

Wanted to see how purely #PhonePhotography might work — torture test scenario shooting the #SolarEclipse in #London on 12 Aug 2026.

Surprisingly, the #Xiaomi #Leitzphone turned out okay. The Xiaomi Gallery app's editor doesn't have all the bells and whistles as Lightroom, but does the job (without subscription!) for a social media edit, in my opinion.

As well as shooting the eclipse using the OM System OM-1, I wanted to see how a smart phone would handle it. And it came out a lot better than I thought it would.

Did another test of the #Leitzphone by #Xiaomi, this time on a goose, using the telephoto lens again.

Look at the 100 per cent crop showing the detail of the eye. All that detail... just... wow!!!

Here is a photo I shot of Big Ben for Getty Images. Nothing special, right?

Well, sure, if you just look at it as a whole. But would you be surprised if I told you that I submitted a photo to Getty, shot with smartphone? Look at all that detail in the 100 per cent crops!

Shot this with the #Leica #Leitzphone by #Xiaomi.

I submitted it, and it was just accepted into Getty's catalogue.
