The Kite Ballet — Thaís Muniz
The Dock Arts Centre, Saturday, June 20 at 10:00 AM GMT+1
The Kite Ballet is a multidisciplinary series comprising the eponymous film, alongside textiles and sculpture. The work reflects on territoriality, community, joy, and degrowth, while advocating for play in adulthood as a revolutionary act.
The Kite Ballet by Thaís Muniz intertwines poetic and mythical elements with political, historical, and symbolic themes, amplifying the voices of local activists from the Itapuã area in Salvador, Brazil. The film portrays a group of kite runners in their weekly communal ritual, highlighting the threat of private development and ecological displacement of Afro-Indigenous sacred territory, where joy and spiritual practices have thrived for centuries. The film advocates for play and negotiation with nature as revolutionary acts.
Thaís Muniz is a Brazilian-Irish visual artist and researcher working across multiple mediums to explore the intersections of inherited and acquired identities, memory, transit, and inward love. Her community-oriented practice unfolds through intimate communal learning processes, including workshop, performance, installation, sculpture, and film. Her work also spans photography, celebrations, and activations, often incorporating archives, personal memorabilia, and symbology.
Muniz’s practice engages with the reimagination of realities through mechanisms of refusal, dreaming, and personal magic, challenging and expanding canonical systems of representation, building connections, and opening conversations. A central aspect of her work involves activating spaces through presence and critically engaging with the geopolitics of place.

Eco Print Workshop — The Colours of Sliabh an Iarainn
The Dock Arts Centre, Thursday, May 14 at 06:00 PM GMT+1
Helen O’Leary and Kim Flick will lead an evening eco-printing workshop for artists and communities at The Dock, working directly with the materials of Sliabh an Iarann—its plants, waters, and iron-rich soils. This is an evening session focusing on eco-printing, working more closely with leaves and plant forms to make direct impressions on cloth and paper, offering a quieter, more intimate way of engaging with the materials.
This is a fun evening of making on Thursday 14 May, 6—8pm—no experience required—slow, physical, and grounded in the Leitrim landscape. All materials supplied. Booking required—tickets are €5 including refreshments.
Helen O'Leary is a Wexford-born artist best known for constructions that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. She holds BFA and MFA degrees from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Based between New York and Leitrim, her work has been widely recognised through awards and residencies including the Rome Prize American Academy in Rome; New Jersey Fellowship for the Arts; the Hennessy Purchase Award, IMMA, Dublin; the Purchase Award American Academy of Arts and Letters; the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship; the Pollock-Krasner awards; the Joan Mitchell Award for painting and sculpture; the Centre Culturel Irlandaise, France; the Sam and Adele Golden Residency, NY; the Mac Dowell Fellowship, New Hampshire; the Skowhegan program, ME; and the Yaddo Residency, NY.
Kim Flick is a mixed media artist, sharing her passion for creativity as a Visual Arts Instructor through workshops, retreats, and community events in addition to the credit courses taught at The Pennsylvania State University. She holds degrees in Drawing & Painting and Equine Science from Penn State University and an MFA from The Vermont College of Fine Art.
Born in Bellefonte and raised in the foothills of the Bald Eagle Mountains, she is a native daughter of the PA Wilds. She keeps it local with membership and service in various community organizations: Central PA Pastel Society, The Farmland Preservation Artists, The Art Alliance, Clinton County Arts Council, and America's oldest art organisation, The Philadelphia Sketch Club. Kim is listed on the juried artist registries of The Bellefonte Art Museum and The Pennsylvania Wilds Artisans. She promotes and demonstrates sustainable studio practices, eco-friendly products and artistic environmental projects.

Uisce Sionainn / Flora Liatromensis
The Dock Arts Centre, Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 AM GMT+1
The Uisce / Flora series of river walks was developed by Anna Macleod and textile designer Katie May Anderson as a transferable model for performative community river walking to celebrate the transformative power of water. The event will include talks by guest speakers on ethnobotany and river regeneration, and the launch of a zine with an essay by Dr. Phillina Sun. Followed by a light lunch.
Anna Macleod is a Scottish-Irish visual artist, researcher, and educator based in the Northwest of Ireland. Her work mediates complex ideas associated with contemporary, historical, and cultural understandings of land and water through a variety of visual art media. She has been awarded the International Atlantic Artist Residency Exchange in Newfoundland with CRUX and Artlink in 2026.
Katie May Anderson is a freelance textile artist and designer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Katie works on various community arts projects across the UK, primarily in the heritage sector. Throughout all her work, collaboration and co-production are crucial, with participants empowered to engage in creative and collaborative expression, building connections and skills development. She has worked in numerous heritage sites in Scotland including Stirling Castle, Castle House Museum, and co-ordinated the Charabancs and Cadillacs project, a community quilt for Community Transport Newham. In 2025 she worked with communities on a textile banner for the ‘Grace’ project at Stirling Castle and a textile map for the Edinburgh Deaf Festival.

How is covid conspiracy nut leitrim drummer guy just able to hand such overt racism around sligo town, no dogwhistle just straight up open racism. Even with the increase normalisation of far right rhetoric ,some of the language is shockingly overt in its racism, which is obviously the intent with his attention seeking behaviour but still shocking this is acceptable now. #Sligo #Leitrim #mastodaoine
