I'm not feeling it today.After a bright start the weather is glooming over, as forecast.
We're going to see Mamma Mia at Leicester Curve this afternoon with our daughter.
She's supposed to be getting here in time for an early lunch.I'm not keen on going out - but then I always say that. I just find these theatre trips, that my wife so enjoys, a relentless slog.
There's so much I dislike about going to the theatre that I'm not sure where to start - and it's rarely balanced out by the enjoyment.It'll be fine by bedtime.
I'm just a miserable old goat. -

I rarely get enthusiastic about the shows that I go to - they are chosen by my wife and I go along.
But tonight was one of the best shows I've been to in a very long time.It was 'Inside American Pie' by a small group of musicians and storytellers from Prince Edward Island, Canada.
This was at Curve in Leicester.This was a musical documentary about the meanings & histories of & around the Don McLean song American Pie.
There were words, of course, but some fabulous retakes of songs from the era that the song references.
If particular note were a re-imagining of the worst Lennon song ever - 'Imagine' which actually gave it some soul & an amazing rendition evoking Janis Joplin.
I was blown away how they segue'd Sympathy For The Devil into Gimme Shelter.If this is small town Canadian music - give me more!

Back home from seeing the Fleetwood Mac tribute show 'Go Your Own Way' in Leicester this evening.
I'll give it a generous 7/10 - mainly for the energy and personalities on stage, plus the lighting.
It was more of a 'music inspired by Fleetwood Mac' than a tribute band.
There was a lot of more obscure album tracks, and a couple of early Peter Green tracks. The approach was typified by Tusk which is extremely difficult to do on stage but they carried it off with improvisation and audience participation.
The sound, I felt was poor, and some of the guitar playing rather self-congratulatory.
But 7/10 ain't bad -
We're off out this evening to see a Fleetwood Mac tribute act at Demontfort Hall in Leicester.
I'm looking forward to it. -

I grew up mere yards from where this asshole murdered two teenage girls.
That being said I'm not sure I like the idea that a Minister could overrule the parole board and keep a person locked up indefinitely, regardless of their crimes
He's served his time. He's supposedly been 'rehabilitated'. The parole board deems him safe for release. It's time
Doesn't mean we like him, or that it diminishes what he did, but...
