I rarely get enthusiastic about the shows that I go to - they are chosen by my wife and I go along.
But tonight was one of the best shows I've been to in a very long time.

It was 'Inside American Pie' by a small group of musicians and storytellers from Prince Edward Island, Canada.
This was at Curve in Leicester.

This was a musical documentary about the meanings & histories of & around the Don McLean song American Pie.

There were words, of course, but some fabulous retakes of songs from the era that the song references.
If particular note were a re-imagining of the worst Lennon song ever - 'Imagine' which actually gave it some soul & an amazing rendition evoking Janis Joplin.
I was blown away how they segue'd Sympathy For The Devil into Gimme Shelter.

If this is small town Canadian music - give me more!

Yesterday evening (despite other life events) we went to see #britfloyd at Leicester's DeMontfort Hall - they're a long running Pink Floyd tribute band.

It was a thumping good evening.
The music was extremely well performed, the sound was spot on, the light show was amazing.

And the audience (of mainly very old people like us) was friendly and without obnoxious phone usage.

While there was a lot of later / obscure Floyd stuff in the first half, the second half was a rendition of the 50 year old Wish You Were Here album in its entirety.
Magic.

The sound, while suitably loud, wasn't at 'ear-bleeding' level which was all to the good.

The graphics & lighting (trad & lasers) were the best I've seen. Full stop.

Even Sacha who tolerates my taste in music enjoyed the evening.
If you get a chance to go - just do it!
