Imagine if everything was like that, though.

For example, I think it's nuts that #hashtags are only literal text, and that they don't link to some object in a knowledge representation model. I wish I could tell my Fedi client to show me all posts related to #Minecraft by just linking to the semantic representation of the game. But instead, I have to subscribe to #Minecraft, #MinecraftBuilds, #MinecraftBuilding, #MinecraftBuilders, #Minecrafters,... Even worse in languages like my own native language – German – that inflect words. #Lehrer, #Lehrern, #Lehrenden, #Lehrers,...

Or let's say I'd like to read more German science-fiction novels by non-binary authors. Why has humanity decided that the best way to do this is to enter natural language keywords into a text search engine and trying your best to find relevant results, Ouija-board style?! Why can I not just use a program that matches something like "type=work, by=author[gender=nb], language=de, genre=science-fiction"?

Why can I not mark up dates and times I mention in my #Fediverse posts so people can auto-add that to their calendar? Why is the best solution for this that people came up with to try and guess what is and isn't a date by scanning text on a browser level...?

Older social media had a ton of structured data, like Facebook and its relationship statuses, birthdays, events, interests and so on. Modern social media just puts plain text forms everywhere! We completely regressed in that regard technologically.

@woozle Try speaking a language where words change based on case, number, gender, et cetera.

The following could all be the same hashtag:
#Lehrer #Lehrers #Lehrern #Lehrerin #Lehrerinnen #Lehrern #Lehrkräfte #Lehrkraft #Lehrende #Lehrender #Lehrenden

And even that's a rather simple word as many forms share a spelling (i. e. die Lehrer, der Lehrer etc.)

It's a whole mess and you can't do in-line hashtags without clunky workarounds.

Interessanter Artikel, dessen Inhalt ich aus Sicht eines #Lehrers leider nur bestätigen kann. Partizipation und Mitbestimmung ist allzuoft nur reine Makulatur, wirklich umgesetzt werden Bedürfnisse und (berechtigte) Wünsche von Schülerinnen und Schülern bestenfalls halbherzig.
