I decided to play a bit of #LegendOfMana on PS4, managed to squeak by a lap of Ring Ring Land, and tried to return to see if my pet would level up.

Only something had gotten out of sync with my pet and it was already on that save.

Luckily I had further saves on online storage that I was able to overwrite everything with to get it back in sync, but having it basically locked like that totally freaked me out. I have no idea how it happened. It does prove the game isn't quite as lazy as the original, though. Pretty sure the original would have just downloaded it without question.

This new rerelease of #LegendOfMana looks off... the backgrounds and UI were upscaled BUT the character sprites were not! So, they look like some Flash animation from the early 2000's in all their unfiltered, unmatching blockiness

I should be more excited about the #LegendOfMana remaster, but TBH it feels like they aren't confident it will sell unless they leave something that's like, "SEE? This is a retro game! Look at the retro goodness and appreciate it!"

Like it's definitely not a modern game, but they redid the portraits; why not the sprites? You can't tell me people NEED to see those pixels when they redid the watercolor BGs and music and literally everything else. adding that detail would have sold me more.

Holy smoke! I just discovered by total accident that you can rename your pets in #LegendOfMana by selecting their name in their stat screen! Way cool!

Now if only I could figure out how to type a space! All the blanks do this weird double wide thing that just looks awful! XD

Make a BaoMarimba as one of your first Instruments. BaobabWood is super easy to get from Gato Grottoes by fighting Woodings (the tree enemies). You'll be spotted a Wisp Silver during the spirit catching tutorial. Combining the two into a Marimba gives you a spell that if fired from one side of the screen will clear nearly the whole area in many fights at a whopping 20 spell power! The stuff you can buy is like 7.

OOF! Bomb traps absolutely destroy the item!
