Can anyone explain why some trials are judge only and some are jury of peers, in context of USA #legalmastodon

I would like to know from #LegalMastodon if there is any chance that this could go to cruel and unusual punishment. A government body openly forcing sterilization against a doctor's orders would seem to fit the bill.

Do @tapbots, Iconfactory and their users have a legal case against Twitter?

Feels like, TOU aside, there has to be some principle of dependency here. People expected and made investments/expenditures expecting the business to behave normally and it didn’t, creating devastating liabilities for these companies.

Santa therefore does not know children's names, only the locations of data protection officers, and what type of gifts to bring & what quantity. This is sufficiently anonymised under #GDPR.

Real question to #LegalMastodon:

What does a service "normally provided for remuneration" as defined in Directive (EU) 2015/1535) mean?

Are these all services where similar types are usually offered for payment? Or does *your service* need to be for remuneration in order to be covered by this definition?

I think the answer to this will determine to what extent #Fediverse instances must comply with #DSA, #TERREG and similar laws, won't it?

We are looking for legal advice for one of our members.
The family have been told that because the child isn't getting better it must be their fault. Social services have stated they are going to proceed to remove the child and will interview the child next week.
The Drs involved don't believe in Long Covid.
The child can't wash at home as no accessible facilities. The council won't help as they say the illness is temporary.
