Good morning. 🪿🪿🦢
28 March 2026
I’m just easing into the morning with my first cup of coffee. I can always tell when I’m taking too long to gather my thoughts—my coffee starts to cool before I’ve said anything worth saying.
Last night I finished Blue Moon by Lee Child, a Jack Reacher novel from one of my favorite series. I have most of the books on audio, and for years they were narrated by Dick Hill, who passed away a couple of years ago. Over time, Hill’s voice became Jack Reacher for me, and while I was reading this one, I kept trying to hear that familiar “Reacher voice” in my head. Scott Brick—one of my favorite audiobook narrators—has taken over since Hill’s passing, but after so many years of Hill’s Reacher, it’s just not quite the same.
Since I don’t drive as much anymore, I decided to order a hardback of a recent Reacher book. That plan didn’t go quite the way I expected, because it turns out I’d already read—or listened to—Blue Moon. I’m not sure why the title didn’t ring a bell when I ordered it. Still, it worked out. I didn’t remember most of the details, and I always feel like you catch more of the story when you read it yourself. I enjoyed the book, but next time I’ll do a better job checking which ones I already own.
The story pits Reacher against two rival organized‑crime groups in a city he just happens to wander into. As for who wins—well, if you know Jack Reacher, those guys were doomed the moment they crossed him.
Blue Moon is the 25th Reacher novel. If you’re curious about where it all begins, the first book is The Killing Floor.

Just finished Gone Tomorrow (Jack Reacher #13) and this one’s heavier than most Reacher books. More real-world history, and blurred lines between friend & enemy.

REACHER Season 3 might be the show’s best yet: bone-crunching fights, sharp writing, and #AlanRitchson in full beast mode. 🥩💥
Adapting Persuader, the show is brutal, focused, and honestly? Kind of awesome.

Justice, suspense, and action collide in #JackReacher (2012), where #TomCruise steps into #LeeChild’s gritty world. From eerily quiet beginnings to explosive noir vibes, this adaptation of One Shot delivers thrills but does it capture Reacher’s essence?🤔

Not all strength is created equal. Some muscle is just for show, while real power is built to last. Lee Child understood as much in this quote from Persuader. 💪⚡

My #QuoteOfTheDay is from a Reacher novel and perfectly captures his frustration with those who believe their status grants them immunity from accountability.

Persuader (Jack Reacher 7) by Lee Child | Book Review
Jack Reacher.
The ultimate loner.
An elite ex-military cop who left the service years ago, he’s moved from place to place…without family…without possessions…without commitments.
And without fear. Which is good, because trouble–big, violent, complicated trouble–finds Reacher wherever he goes. And when trouble finds him, Reacher does not quit, not once…not ever.
But some unfinished business has now found Reacher. And Reacher is a man who hates unfinished business.
Ten years ago, a key investigation went sour and someone got away with murder. Now a chance encounter brings it all back. Now Reacher sees his one last shot. Some would call it vengeance. Some would call it redemption. Reacher would call it…justice.
How was it?
The seventh book in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series kicks off with a bang – literally. The story screeches in with some action right from the start, pulling readers into the chaos before offering any explanations. I was thrown by some of what was happening in that opening scene. It was a smart move that set the tone for a relentless, twisty thriller that managed to hold my attention from beginning to end. I kept questioning and speculating about everything that was going on, and yet I was more surprised here than any other Reacher books that I’ve read so far.
One of the things I find interesting in this book is how it grounds Reacher in the era it was written. His uncertainty with emails, for example, is a subtle but telling reminder of the early 2000s – a marker of time that adds a bit of charm to his otherwise tough-as-nails persona.
The plot revolves around unfinished business from Reacher’s past, resurfacing through a chance encounter. This setup gives us a gripping combination of vengeance and justice, wrapped in Reacher’s signature approach – uncompromising, strategic, and ruthless. What stands out here is the back-and-forth narrative between the present-day operation and the dark incident that happened ten years earlier. The back-and-forth kept me on edge, it was slowly unraveling the mystery of what went wrong in the past while Reacher tackled the present-day threat. Although both have dark moments, the past incident is really the one that F’d me up because at some point in the book I didn’t want to know the details. But ultimately, the back-and-forth structure worked well in heightening the tension and tying together the plot.
There’s a lot of darkness hinted at in Persuader – disturbing acts and messed-up goons that push Reacher’s moral boundaries. These elements give the story an edge that makes it one of the grittier entries I’ve read. It’ll be interesting to see how these darker themes are adapted into season 3 of Reacher, especially since some of the hinted atrocities might not make it to the screen.
Overall, Persuader is a tightly wound, action-packed thriller that delivers classic Jack Reacher. With intense action, a gritty narrative, and a well-paced mystery, this book showcases everything fans love about the series. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Reacher’s world, this entry is a must-read.

I have to admit that this one is not up to the same standard as the others. When you have written almost 30 books about the same character there is very little that the regular readers have to learn about him, and the stories start to become much the same.To be honest, if you have never read a Reacher book you should start with the first in the series, and leave this one on the shelf.

I have just finished reading In Too Deep book 29 in the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child and Andrew Child. Now these books will never be regarded in the same light as Charles Dickens' output, it is just that there is something special about how easy they are to read.

I finished reading Lee Child's new short story anthology, "Safe Enough". If you're a Jack Reacher fan, you will be disappointed. They are not about Reacher, but stories Child wrote for other publications. Although the book does end with a short story that includes Reacher, written by Child and Tess Gerritsen about her Maggie Bird character. This somewhat redeems the book, but not to the extent that I can recommend it.
