in July 2024, when I deleted my twitter account, I had 487 follower.
Now:
On #Mastodon I have over 500 follower
And on #Pixelfed I have over 200 follower
(many overlapping of course)And everyone of you is much more worth than anyone on the birdsite (unless you've already followed me on the birdsite)

A lot of people #LeaveTwitter but bring the mentality with them here after they left X. Suprise, Suprise! Getting rid of the bad influence is a NECESSARY condition for curing #SocialMedia brain rot but it is not SUFFICIENT in itself. You still have to do the work of UNLEARNING bad habits here

Looks like Elon is getting away with election interference yet again in Canada and there’s nothing any of us peons can do about it.
Pierre Poilievre will happily ride Trump’s gilded coattails all the way to complete control over Canada.
The wealthy right wing has colluded to pool their resources and buy our elections from now on, no one will stop them in future if this insidious behaviour is allowed to continue.
Will Canadians be gullible enough to let Putin’s puppet elect yet another rw foreign pawn into power with his influence and big money?

I think the thing to do is create a new brand account, rename the old brand account, then give the old brand name to the new account. At this point you've got an empty brand account and you can deactivate the old brand account.
So, to illustrate:
You have an X/Twitter account called "brandname".
You create @newbrandname.
You rename @brandname to @oldbrandname.
You rename @newbrandname to @BrandNameDoodoo
You deactivate @oldbrandname.
You make the new @brandname account private (protect the non-existent posts).
And you're done.

So now on the birdshit channel if you block someone harassing you, they will still be able to view your posts and screenshot for use in their own threads.
This means blocked abusers will now just snapshot and shitpost your tweets and you won’t even know cause you’ve blocked them.
An obvious solution to bypass walls placed by victims and keep the harassment and abuse flowing on the right wing network.
Everyday is another day I’m glad I left the birdshit channel.

Today I deactivated one of my Twtr accounts. In fact there is no way of actually deleting an account, you have to hope for the best that your account AND all data is deleted from their servers. I suspect they keep the data, tbh, which would be illegal in the EU. Only the most commercialised apps tend to not have a 'delete my account' button, but you can usually email to request all data is removed. I dont think Twtr would respond to such an email.
