Side note: I say porn game half-jockingly. Like many date sim games, it contains pornographic pictures/3D animations (there is no option to disable them in this game, but the suicide chapter can be skipped) but most of the game is a visual novel (Renpy) with illustrated narration, a lot of conversations with potential romantic partners and other characters, and decisions, where you pick your answers / actions amongst a defined set with various degree of influence on the story.
There are some plot points I have not gotten (yet) since I only did two "routes", including something to do with homeland security and the main character's family… maybe. -

There is a dialog later where one of the other girls tells you that you could not have saved her, whatever choices you made, her mind was already set. That also hits hard since it is undeniable both in-game and as a meta comment on the game. No matter your choices, the girl always tries to suicide twice, stops because of you the first time, goes all the way the second attempt and miraculously barely survives. -

I got the Freedom To Buy Games GOG bundle a few months back, created in response to itch.io massively erasing porn and queer games under the pressure of Visa/Mastercard.
Only days ago I played #LeapOfFaith for the first time.I don't remember the last time I cried over a video game (certainly happened at some point). But now I really have, and of all the possible types of games, it had to be an "adult" sim game. 🙃
Friggin' porn game being all emotional with all the feelings and the suicide and depression and relationships and stuff! And the music, the smart use of lyrics, sometimes to illustrate and others as an integral part of the story…

One of the girls (Cece) dies, then the story stops, an actual (IRL) successful suicide attempt is referred to in a touching way, and then it goes back to the story "but this is just a game…" and she is kind of resurrected but the situation isn't fixed. If anything, it is worse.
And even though the way she survives is realistic (unlike your arriving just in time and grabbing her arm the very same way a second time), it still feels like her death was real. She has been brought back for the sake of the story but she has also died. -

I got the next episode of the Leap of Faith podcast ready for Monday. What am I talking about?
Permission to Stay in the Room.
This is the idea of having a relationship with what you want even when it gets uncomfortable. Sometimes we call that permission.
Give yourself permission to deal with the crap that comes up inside of yourself when you go to do something different. What is all that stuff? Where did it come from? And how the heck do I deal with it?
The room is the change you want to make or the goal you have. That room is where you have to learn to hang out if you want to do the thing.
By the way, that room is not a comfortable place to be at first. But your job is to make it more comfortable by getting okay with your surroundings, learning how to manage the fear, questioning what's happening in your head, and figuring out what you need to do next.
Hint: You don't need to run away.
You do need to stay in the room, manage the fear, and give yourself permission to keep going.
